What, if I may ask

I have been here for a couple years, off and on. I come to ask questions, as discussing religion (especially the prospect of changing ones religion) is opening a can of worms in my family. The folks here are friendly, and lead me in the right direction, so I just keep coming back!
I’ve had a few LDS friends who broke away from that, but boy oh boy did their family take it harshly.

Keep seeking the Truth.

Will keep you in our prayers my friend.🙂

GREAT advise, and here’s WHY

Truth but all public expression and definitions HAS TO BE “singular per defined issue”; it can be nothing else.

I REALLY liked what Pope Benedict XVI said about it:D

“There can’t be your truth and my truth or there would be no truth” AMEN:thumbsup:

So keep that i =n mind and demand evidence of their positions.

God Bless you,

Patrick

My DEAR friends in Christ,

Please share with us on CAF, what bring you as a [at present], non-Catholic, to CAF?

I have long wondered about this?

God Bless you,

Patrick
Since this forum has the designated topic here of “Non Catholic Religions” I have from time to time shared information about the Baha’i Faith and that is my sole reason for being here… If there are misapprehensions or inaccuracies re. Baha’i I offer to supply what I can for Catholics. 😉

I have found that Catholics (in general) are open to the truths found in other faiths and interested in inter-religious dialogue in a friendly and polite manner. I very much appreciate that attitude and approach.

I first came to CAF as a result of something I read on a website, to find out if the RCC still considered me to be a Catholic. Since then I’ve been alternately interested, surprised, perplexed and amused by reading the forum. It’s helped me to get a better understanding of the faith in which I was raised (Catholic school from age 5 to 11, followed by some catechetics classes). I drifted away from the church around the age of 13 and CAF hasn’t changed my agnostic atheist views.

Married into a Catholic family and am the only non-Catholic out of the 9 of us and really feel like an outsider in the family, so I was just googling around to get a little more info on the Church, and to see if how I was treated as a non-Catholic was common or isolated to our Parrish(s).

Don’t remember why I joined, but I did and away we went.

It’s too lengthy to fit on the FORUM:shrug:

God Bless you

I like it you are here, we all have a path to walk in life and trying to understand what that is, is always an experience to share.

Since I was born Protestant, and became a practicing Christian in mid-2012, I frequently browsed religious Web sites and read Protestant books and developed a negative view of Catholicism. It did not help when I discovered Chick Tracts and the writings of Ellen White.

Either way, through the grace of God, I decided it was all lunacy and turned to more credible sources. I pursued the writings of the Church Fathers (Augustine, Ambrose, Thomas Aquinas, etc), which eventually drew me away from Protestantism and more towards real Christianity.

Late last year, I decided it would be a good thing to investigate Catholicism to see if it was really what the Church Fathers said it was. I joined these forums in the course of my investigation and have found them to be quite helpful (though there are still a few things about these forums that worry me ;)) By now I have become completely disaffected by Protestantism and have a desire to join the Catholic Church. 🙂

THANKS for posting!

God my friend is on your side.🙂

Keep praying and searching, but allow GOD to lead you, be humble and follow where the Holy Spirit takes you.

I enjoy discussions about religion and I think the CAF allows some good inter-religious discussion.

Additionally, I’ve been inquiring into Catholicism for a few years now, so it’s interesting to read what people have to say here.

When I began attending Episcopal services in…2011, I believe it was, it was because there was no UU church in town and I wanted to practice my rather eclectic faith in community. I felt a certain call to pursue spirituality within the Christian context, and so was baptized and confirmed into the Episcopal church in 2012. With every passing year I have grown more orthodox in longing and belief, and I’ve been mistaken for Catholic more than once. It may not be a mistake considering how many Catholic podcasts, books, and cultural websites I take in: Catholicism is my main source of Christian formation, so my appetite has already been whetted by the Tiber. CAF is another source for that, but more importantly – in an age of lunacy, it is a sane Christian refuge.

it sounds like the Holy Spirit is guiding you. I was raised in the Episcopal church and felt called to be Catholic as a teenager. I wish I would have contacted someone in the Catholic church then, but I was confirmed in the Episcopal church and became a lapsed Christian after 18. The Episcopal church has continued to become less and less orthodox since I was 18 in 1970. My advice is to continue to learn more about the Catholic faith. Good luck and God bless!

I suppose out of curiosity to learn about a tradition I walked away from decades ago without really knowing the least little about it. Blessings to all.
Please look for a private message from me [the OP]🙂

I thank you for your kind intention, but I prefer not to. I’ve spent a considerable amount of time (perhaps too much time) in recent years investigating the various claims of evidence for the existence of God. None have been even remotely persuasive. So I don’t want to waste both our times.
