- the Beginning and the End of reality. God is reality, reality itself.
The end of reality, that was how I came to know God completely. At about age ten, while at school, I was on the playground with the other kids at noon recess. I was thinking about World War II and wanted to know what caused the war. I silently turned my attention to heaven and asked god to show me the cause of the war. I had a vision of white clouds that filled my head and there were black puffs of smoke suddenly appearing among the clouds. It was very bright, but lasted only a few seconds.
I didn’t know what to make of the vision, and as I had been walking on the playground when I recieved the vision I continued to walk. As I walked the other children began to become angry, shouting to each other and shouting around me. I had no idea why they were angry, but it seemed that they were all becoming increasingly angry with me. I continued walking and turned my attention this time toward God and began to confess, that I knew very little about life, and I had been told in so many words that life was all about love, and I knew very little about love. I began to recall every experience in my life that I believed was related to love, everything that I had thought and done that could be what love is.
Well, it didn’t take very long, and I had confessed everything that I could remember, and I said to him I really don’t understand much about what love is, even though I believe it is important. The children continued to shout and they all were shouting as I continued to walk on the playground. I walked on to a square blacktop that was recently laid, and we were all told not to walk on it. They lined up around the square edges and picked up stones and began throwing the stones at me. The stones were deflected toward the ground, and each one struck the ground and deflected away from a circle around my feet.
A girl in the crowd shouted above the others, “he disappeared!”. I then said to God in my mind that I did not want to exist. I stopped walking and stood motionless on the blacktop. They were still throwing stones and shouting, the school bell rang, they all droped their stones and stood motionless for a moment, then all began running toward the schoolhouse. Two of the boys ran through me. It was as if I was an atmosphere and I could feel a tearing sensation as they passed through.
They had all run to the school, I stood there for a moment and then vanished. Three hours later I was sent back. In the first moment there was only bright light, then thought and the vision begins to form, my body formed transparently, I could feel the warmth of the hot summer day as my feet came to the ground, and my body became solid.
I had arrived, back on the playground about twenty-five feet from where I left, on the gravel covered ground. I looked up and to my right, and in the distance I could see a white haired old teacher standing outside the entrance of the school looking straight ahead. She turned her head to the right, and then called to me, come here. I turned my head to the ground and did not move. She walked slowly up to me and took my hand, and walked me back to my classroom.
The school bell rang it was the end of the day. My mother came and drove me home. On the way home my mother said that someone had called from the school and told her that they could not find me. She said to me, Where were you? Thinking that she would not understand anything that I could say, I told her, I don’t know…
