Is it true that it is a belief of the Catholic church that you can’t go to Heaven without being baptized?

What if someone is in a country where they cannot be baptized or what if someone doesn’t ever have the opportunity to be baptized?

I’m just wondering about this, I do not mean it in any rude or condescending way nor am I trying to attack or mock your beliefs and I hope you will do the same for me.

The information that you have is only partially true.

Normally, you must be baptised. Now, if someone is in an area where that is impossible, say Saudi Arabia, then they may be under what is known as a Baptism of Desire. If allowed to, they would choose to be baptised. Since they cannot, it is not held against them. It is the same situation as someone who decides to be baptised and gets killed in a car crash on the way to be baptised.

I hope that helps.

Baptismal Regeneration is a lie . Romans 4:5 plainly states… **“But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” **How much clearer could the Bible be? A person’s faith in Jesus Christ is **COUNTED **for righteousness. Salvation is of God, and not men. We are saved by HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, and not our own self-righteousness… but to him that worketh not. In lieu of such plain Scriptural teachings, how could anyone teach or believe that water baptism is required to be forgiven of one’s sins?
What people should be focusing on, instead of the ceremony of baptism, is the precious blood of Jesus Christ that takes our sins away… **“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” Please read, The Simple Gospel. **

“For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.” —The Apostle Paul, 1st Corinthians 1:17

All Christians until well into the second millenium understood Christ’s teaching as including Baptismal regeneration. And of course this is not opposed to the Blood of Christ–in fact, this is why water and blood poured forth from His Heart.

Catholics have also understood that if one desires God above all things, but for some reason outside their control they cannot be Baptized, such a person may be granted the grace of Baptism apart from receiving the Sacrament itself. This is often called Baptism by desire or by fire, since it is action of the Holy Spirit.

As a Christian who has never been baptized and unless I leave the Society of Friends which I’ve been a member for over 30 years, I would say I simply didn’t get wet.🙂 I understand most Christians feel a need for water baptism…I have been baptized into the Body of Christ by the Holy Spirit…so if the “baptism of desire” includes the belief of the baptismal regeneration of the Holy Spirit…then I’m good…if not…I will trust my experience with God over what other’s tell me…and while I have no problem with water baptism…it’s a wonderful practice for those who wish to undergo the ritual…I do not find it of worth to me.

Born in the church, yet loyal elsewhere now, and my point further takes Pre and Post Vatican 2, the watch group the Congregation on the Doctrine of the Faith, and the leadership from the Holy See to his brother Cardinals and Bishops, speaking for myself, I am going to hell. Period.

After reviewing posts that I printed months ago and dialogue with a priest and others in the face to face world, hell is what awaits me.

I do not believe I am going there because I have a confirmation personally that is so.

AS ALWAYS for those you want a detailed explanation, speak with me privately and not here and will provide the detail.

The real issue of baptism is this: Who is to be baptized- the one who has exercised faith in Christ and received salvation, or one who has not trusted Christ for salvation? We are to baptize believers, those who have trusted Christ to be their Saviour. It is a living faith alive before the act of baptism. Any religion which requires Baptism for salvation is teaching that we should baptize people who have a dead faith. This characterizes a person who is not operating in faith until they are dunked in water. This practice is unbiblical. This is clearly a case of misplaced faith which trusts in a ceremony and not the object of our faith - Christ alone. The book of Colossians explains the heresy that came into the church that one needed to have additions and was just as devastating as the Galatians heresy.

Oohs, forgot that I was baptized Protestant and almost 20 years ago where I have been. (Catholicism under the previous pope and the Congregation on the Doctrine of the Faith, stated my baptism is not valid and will not be recognized as such).

AS ALWAYS for those who want to detail of the biblical basis of my response, a private message is welcomed.

Baptism has always been important, biblical and not my opinion.

baptismis not necessary for salvation but it is something that God wants us to do if we have the opportunity to do so. When we get baptized, we are making a public profession of our faith. We are displaying outwardly what has happened inwardly. Baptism pictures the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We symbolize our faith in the Gospel in being baptized. It is similar to wearing a wedding ring. The ring doesn’t make you married, it is simply a symbol of ownership. You own each other. If the ring is destroyed, the marriage is still valid. Two people do not need a ring to be married in God’s eyes. Likewise, baptism does not save nor is it required to be saved. However, you must be saved before you can be legitimately baptized. “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that BELIEVETH NOT shall be damned” (Mark 16:16). A wedding ring means nothing if you have no marriage. Likewise, baptism means nothing if you have not Christ in your heart. Salvation is of the heart, not baptism or anything else. It is NOT what you say that is important. What does matter is whether or not you believe in your HEART that Jesus is the Savior and that you have personally asked Him to forgive and save you.

If baptism was not needed, why did Jesus say that it was?

Please.

thecourt, please shoot me a pm about your baptism being invalid. Which pope?
