Hello,

Recently I went to confession and the priest did not give me the opportunity to say an Act of Contrition. This has actually happen twice in the past two years. Does this invalidate the confession? Do I need to confess again? Should I have asked the priest to allow me to say an Act of Contrition?

Thanks

Hi,

Just pray the Act of Contrition after Confession. If you don’t say it, the sacrament is still valid. Sometimes a priest will forget to ask the person to say it. No problem.
