What if you already beleive Satan's lie?

Jesus didn’t act in rebellion nor did He teach His listeners to rebel. Jesus respected the authority established in the beginning passed down from Moses. He taught; " do as they say but not as they do"

Martin Luther did what Jesus wouldn’t do. He rebelled against authority established in the beginning.

I don’t doubt Luther was correct about much of the corruption the Church suffered at the time.

I’m pretty sure Luther was correct about the corruption of men away from Church’s teaching. However, his reaction to it snowballed into something not even he expected.

Luther was right about a lot of things, and one of them was that he saw the men in authority seeking power rather than Christ. The Church certainly needed to be reformed, but not broken away from. Thus all the current confustion between denominations and the denial that the Catholic Church claims to be who She is - the original Church that Christ instituted.

Remember, the Church itself is the Body of Christ. It could never have been nor can it ever be corrupted; or else Jesus was a liar. What can be corrupted, however, are the men in it. Even those with the highest authority. It took the painful reformation to wake us up and begin Church reform.

True, but he (Satan, I mean) didn’t capture their hearts. I would say most of our separated brethren love Jesus and Satan’s probably pretty angry about that!

Remember, just because they are separated doesn’t mean they aren’t saved. It simply means they aren’t exposed to the fulness of Truth. Maybe God thinks they don’t need it. Regardless, I know many Protestants who are more holy than most Catholics.

And did you ever notice how Protestant converts to Catholicism are “on fire” and get so excited when they can talk about Scripture and Jesus? Take Scott Hahn for example, but there are many more that I just love to listen to as well. 🙂

Have you read his 95 Theses? He had legitimate complaints and wanted redress from within, not separation from the Catholic Church. That result seems to have been forced on him by circumstances. When I read them I was most surprised to see that most of them addressed the issue of the sale of “indulgences.” As you read them you will get a picture of just what kinds of things were going on at that time.

Malachi, re-read his post. He said he doesn’t doubt. I made the same mistake as you did, and then posted a response based on my mis-reading of his post too.

I think his complaints were legit. His role as informer would be fulfilled once the heiarchy recognized the validity of the complaints and began comprehensive studies of the best course to set. It seems Martin Luther lacked the virtue to not feel that resolution had to be accomplished his way. A steady course and a commitment to a persistent dissent within the bounds of obedience is how he should have acted. Obedient dissent strengthens the bonds no matter who’s side proved to be right. Commitment to the fraternal bonds produces the kind of love that is supposed to mark Jesus diciples.

🙂 Hello, What I was trying to figure out is I guess a little more complicated to answer as I am refering to the end times and santan having all power and authority,ruleing in high places.As far as false religions thay were there beforeChrist came to earth.And I’m not questioning the Catholic’s or Luther,I just want how you feel or think it will happen and who you think the beast is? it could be government,as far as false prophets,there are so many. This beast will have all power,and authority over all the earth.And there will be a mark he will make people take,in order to buy,sell,trade.Then it is written that if those day’s wern’t shortened even the elect would perish,but for the sake of the elect,those day’s would be shortened.It will be a religous war but how can any religion take over the world? and own everyone? I know that I’m not Catholic and I dont go to Prod.churches,I’m afraid to go to any to tell you the truth.I do beleive Christ lives in all beleivers heart’s and I beleive. love of Christ Nancy:)

I believe some people choose not to believe in God even when faced everyday with proof He is real. Or take God for granted and live a life of sin and no repentance for their sins because pop culture and fitting in with their friends means more to them then God. Look around you. The world is morally bankrupt. Its easy to see a lot of people believing in satan’s lies.
 
When the “man of lawlessness” comes he will deify himself, claiming to be God (2:4)

who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god and object of worship, so as to seat himself in the temple of God, claiming that he is a god

He will dazzle the wicked with displays of his power (2:9). These are not miriacles ,which are the work of God, but illusions that make sinners think the poswer of God is being witnessed.

the one whose coming springs from the power of Satan in every mighty deed and in signs and wonders that lie,

He will decieve the world with falsehoods of every kind (2:10)

and in every wicked deceit for those who are perishing because they have not accepted the love of truth so that they may be saved.

God will respond to the wicked by worsening their problem. Because they will defy God and willfully reject the truth, he will permit them to love their evils and errors without the merciful restraint of his grace. (2:11-12)

Therefore, God is sending them a deceiving power so that they may believe the lie, that all who have not believed the truth but have approved wrongdoing may be condemned.

*“God will send” because, by his own judgment, God will permit the devil to do these things. Being judged in this way, sinners will be deceieved; and being deceived, they will be judged (St Augustine, *City of God 20, 19)

I like Fr. Corapi’s response to a person who said he/she didn’t believe in Satan. Fr. Corapi smiled and said, “That’s ok…he believes in you!”
