Even imagining an existence without any negatives (such as sin, death, disease), and even filled with constant postive pleasures or joys (and, imagining, there was no possibility of boredom), I still feel that the deep sleep of non-existence would be preferable.
That is acceptable. It is true that one cannot do anything for the nonexistent beings. The reason that I have a different opinion about the creation is that the creator (and I speak of you and me and other beings filled with curiosity) will gain something from conducting such an experiment. We do not have omniscience, we can grow in knowledge.
No, if I was God, I would have never said, “Let there be Light”, but would have just hit the “snooze” button, rolled over and gone back to sleep in the loving arms of the infinite void.
I certainly agree with you here. Since God allegedly could not gain anything from the creation - being self-sufficient, it is nonsensical to assume that he created the universe. A purposeful being cannot act without a purpose. But in this thread I am not interested in discussing God.
