Once again i have another question for everyone in here 🙂

What if…your child came up to you, or you found out…that they were wanting to start practicing a form of Paganism

Would you scold them, try and talk them out of it,let it go thinking its just a phase…or if you have another way of maybe dealing with it, if so lemme know

your wiccan friend,

reborn;)

p.s. i apolgize for the smileys im in a very happy mood

That would be interesting! 🙂

I would just talk to them about it, study with them, try to understand what it is that was calling to them.

A bit of how I would respond would depend upon the age of my child.

I guess my first response would be,“Oh Really?” Then I would get serious and ask my child to educate me on the Paganism they want to practice and ask them what they are “looking” for spiritually. This is if the child is still under your roof or at least you have a close relationship with the child. Heartbreaking for me, this is not the case in my family.

My 25 daughter calls herself “Spiritually Inlightened” and believes in the teachings of Wicca, but also Crystals and Tarrot Card readings and that board game which I can not spell. I have permenate custody of her 9 year old son but on her visits, she tries everything to talk him into NOT believing in the faith of Jesus Christ, he even came home one day and told me that he no longer had Jesus in his heart:eek:

I continue to pray for her, but I have also asked our Lord to surround my grandson with His angels being led by St. Michael to protect him and I have asked Our Blessed Lady to cover him with her veil and St. Joseph to watch over my family as well. 👍

Hullo love4mary 👋

Did you raise her a strict Catholic?

Do you have any other children?

Please do not take offense to this, I am just curious… Did you obtain custody of your grandson because of religious beliefs?

I will understand if you do not want to answer, especially if it is a sensative matter.

I have a 10 month old daughter - if she express this interest when she is an adult, I would wish her well on her journey.

If she were still living at home, I would have a long conversation with her. In the large umbrella of neo-paganism, there are things that are benevolent, some things that are neutral, and some things that are worrisome.

For example, I would not allow a ouji board or tarot cards in the house, while I would participate in a smudging ceremony - heck, I smudge our house with sage and holy water.

Deuteronomy 13:6, 8-11

If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known , thou, nor thy fathers…
8 Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him, neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shakt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die, because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the Land of Egypt, from the house of bonbdage. And Isreal shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this among you.

To answer the first question,NO, I did not get custody of my grandson based on any religion. Sadly for all my children, I spent my first 40 years as an Atheist:crying: , so no, she was not reared in a Catholic Chirstian home.

I am a Catholic Chirstian NOW, and I can only go from today in trying to live the faith as humbly and as committed as possible, my 13 and 9 year olds are being reared in the faith.👍

My daughter was never reared in a ANTI faith/religion home,we simply just didn’t think about whether God did or did not exist and so it was never a topic of discussion.

It is only now, that she has found her “spiritual” life that she has become ANTI_Christian and is trying to teach that to my grandson.

Yeah… I’m pretty sure that I’m not going to kill someone for converting to another religion.

All Old Testament punishments should be read in light of the sermon on the mount, and the other teachings of Jesus. The just punishment for apostasy is death, yes, but Christians are taught to be merciful.

That is unfortunate. It is a difficult situation to be in. Thank you for answering my question.
From what you wrote it seems as though your daughter has alot of anger toward the christian religion, however Paganism and wicca are not innately ANTI christian (hate wise) in and of itself against any religion. A true practitioner of Paganism or wicca would understand that all religion is a very personal experience.

It would depend on what pagan path my child was interested. I think some are fine, and some are pointless or even dangerous.

Well my wiccan friend,

To use wiccan as an example, I would point out the history of the “religion” From what I understand it derives from a tribal Celtic religion from the “Hwicca” and Druids, and that they were apparently extremely brutal and ignorant. When Christianity was introduced to dark-ages Britan, it was a welcome change from the all the tree worship and human sacrifices that many of the Celtic and Anglo-Saxon communities had to endure. Now, this seems to be the “religion” of choice among the goth highschoolers in reaction and rebellion to Christianity. Wicca, in my opinion is a silly pop culture creation reinforced by the media, you think you’re being different and clever by practicing wicca? So my advice would be to do your homework and see what wiccan is all about, then decide.

Just out of curiousity, what pagan paths do you consider pointless?

Which do you consider dangerous?

…thats like me asking you what sects of christianity do you think is wrong and dangerous?

and the only pagan paths i think are pointless, are the goths who just want to upset mommy and daddy…thats not even a pagan path, just people who are posers

sense were on the subject, do you think any sects of christianity are dangerous?

Goth itself isn’t ‘pagan’. Now, there may be ‘pagan Goths’, but that’s another issue.

I’m not saying everything about wicca is bad, or that everything about Christianity and Christians is good. You asked what would I tell my kid, so I gave my answer.

My opinion about wicca, many pagan religions and many other religions is that they’re fake and created out of ignorance in order to “feel good” “It’s all about me” “I want my religion to be…” What makes everybody think its all about them and they’re feelings?

By the same token, I have many issues with Christianity, Most Christians don’t act Christian, and I include myself in that category. But the true standard for christianity is extremely high and difficult to achieve. Once you cut through all the garbage you might see what the standard for being Christian is… Yikes ! I say! You might have to endure humiliation or even die for what you believe… And who in their right mind wants to do that?

Yeah, being wiccan is much nicer, much easier, no pesky rules telling you how to act. So lets dance around the fire and worship the gods… I’d much rather be wiccan.

Please don’t get mad at me RP, I’m on your side.
