I am reading “The Grunt Padre” right now. He needs to be a saint. 👍

This was one of my first eye-openers when I began investigating Catholicism… actually I never looked back after this one. If you like this you’ll also love Hard Sayings (Trent Horn) and The Apostasy that Wasn’t (Rod Bennett) - two really incredible books that I read cover to cover and will likely read again someday. 🙂
 
The Fellowship: The Literary Lives of the Inklings . Mostly about Tolkien and Lewis (less Barfield and Williams), but it’s not as though “Tollers” and “Jack’s” company is objectionable!
 
Letters from Carmel by St. Elizabeth of the Trinity and Never Forget: Christian and Jewish Perspectives on Edith Stein, edited by Sr. Waltraud Herbstrith OCD. I am doing a little presentation on St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross/Edith Stein for my Lay Carmelite community at our October meeting. Reading the testimonies of Stein relatives is extremely helpful for my research. And Sabeth (St. Elizabeth of the Trinity’s nickname) is a delight – very perceptive and personable.
 
I am currently reading “Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley.
 
I’m reading through the whole Bible. I’m at the beginning of the book of Hebrews.

I didn’t read the first book of the quartet because the bookstore didn’t have it in stock. But I’m looking forward to the fourth book, The Light Shines on in the Darkness. He has been going over that one in the last several episodes of his show, Fr. Spitzer’s Universe, on EWTN, so that should help. I’ve got them all on the DVR and plan to watch them while I read the book.

I’m reading the first book in the series Finding True Happiness. It was the only Fr. Spitzer book available in the bookstore. It’s very good but not what I really want to read right now. Do you think Fr. Spitzer’s quartet can be read out of order? Money is tight and the book I’m truly interested in reading is The Light Shines in the Darkness.
 
For my “serious” reading, am reading Fr. Spitzer’s Finding True Happiness, re-reading his book Five Pillars of the Spiritual Life and re-reading Fr. Gaitley’s book on the Trinity The ‘One Thing’ is Three. 📚🐈
 
I’m reading college textbooks and the Bible. By far I read the Bible the most. Of the college textbooks, I enjoy reading my history book, but I am disturbed by its anti-Judaism/Christian bent.

Yea, I think so. From what I’ve read so far, there hasn’t been a need to read them in order. There is order in them, but you wouldn’t necessarily be lost.

Well, since you asked, I’m reading the proof of my novel Amaranth before it comes out in paperback.

I’m also reading St. Faustina’s Diary.

You know, I’m very fortunate.

Right after Mother Angelica’s death, I was visiting her nun’s online gift shop. They were selling, at the time, original versions of Mother’s many booklets, and I was able to purchase most of them just before they apparently sold out. Those booklets are now being combined together into new books, like the one you mention.

And they ARE wonderful.

My sympathies. Proofreading gets old when you’re going thru the same text for about the 20th time 😃

I’m reading “In this House of Brede” by Rumer Godden. Loving it so far. I was expecting a book about convent life to be flat, pious literature, but I’d heard a lot of good things about it from friends so I gave it a try. Glad I did. This book has some of the most well drawn characters I’ve ever encountered in fiction. It’s a beautiful but also realistic glimpse into religious life. I don’t want it to end.

I’m also reading “Max Perkins: Editor of Genius” which is a biography of the editor who discovered Hemingway, Fitzgerald and co. The guy really was a genius. Hope I can be half the editor he was someday.
 
‘Overcoming Distressing Voices’ by Mark Hayward, Clara Strauss and David Kingdon. My therapist gave it to me. It’s a self-help book about hearing voices.
