What is a Bissell?

Is this Mass being held in your parish church or at another site?

It could be that is the name of the place where the Mass will be held.

For example, a local parish celebrates Mass at a local nursing home once a month and it is one of the 2 daily Masses they offer.
It is listed in the bulletin as Cherry Hill @ 2:00pm.
That’s what it sounds like to me.

Could be a nursing home, a school, a military facility, a prison, a convent, a monastery, a retreat center, a hospital, a shrine, or any other such place that local priests would visit and say Mass. It might not even be a local place. Sometimes “overflow” Mass intentions are turned over to shrines and religious orders.

I always thought it was some special kind of prayer or something :o The possibility of it being at another location makes a lot of sense.

That’s really interesting. I never knew that could happen.
I see that you probably figured out what “Bissell” meant. Good.

I have been told that some parishes find places to handle Mass offerings when there are more people that request Masses than there are Masses offered. I am not personally familiar with any parishes/dioceses doing this.

In the last few years my parish has begun to offer Masses for more than one intention per Mass so it’s not an issue for us. (At least not yet.)

You beat me to it.
A vacuum cleaner comes to mind, but that can’t be it. I just did a google and found all sorts of strange things, although none of what I saw seems to have a religious connotation. 🤷

I heard that having more than one intention per Mass wasn’t allowed unless the people were somehow related. I guess I heard wrong?

It’s something fairly recent. Our former pastor said the bishop had given approval.

In my parish bulletin, where they have the Mass intentions for the week, it read: “(Bissell) Monday 1pm - Joe Smith.”
I’ve never heard of that before. Do any of you know what it is? Is it a Mass?
Call the parish office and ask. They will be glad to help!

Check phone book for “Bissell” and see what it is. Might be self answering that way.

Or perhaps there’s such a mess that Joe Smith need sprayers as he vacuums the church 😃

Cool. I went to daily Mass today, and they had 2 intentions. The women were not related. I’m pretty sure that’s the first time I’ve ever heard that at my church.
Is that the one you have been referring to as the “old bag?”
😃

please, please, please!when you find out tell us!!
I was talking to my dad about this, and he said that it’s the name of a local hospital (I had asked my mom and brother about it and they had no idea what it could be. Guess I should’ve asked my dad sooner :o ). So I’m pretty sure that it’s just a Mass that is said at the hospital once a week. 🙂

A google led me to this link for a hospital. Could that be the one?

I’d watch out for the Dirt Devil. You might want to Kirby the near occasion of sin. Get to confession Kenmore.

Sorry I couldn’t do anything with Hoover.
And may the Holy Spirit Hoover over you. 😛
