Shockerfan,
shockerfan:
The prohibition against joining the Freemasons is due to that organizations purpose. It is a rival naturalistic religion. The New Catholic Encyclopedia states, “Freemasonry displays all the elements of religion, and as such it becomes a rival to the religion of the Gospel. It includes temples and altars, prayers, a moral code, worship, vestments, feast days, the promise of reward or punishment in the afterlife, a hierarchy, and initiation and burial rites” (vol. 6, p. 137).
Historically, one of Masonry’s primary objectives has been the destruction of the Catholic Church; this is especially true of Freemasonry as it has existed in certain European countries. Joining a Masonic lodge is prohibited under canon 1374:
Can. 1374 A person who joins an association which plots against the Church is to be punished with a just penalty - one who promotes or takes office in such an association is to be punished with an interdict.
And by this declaration of the Catholic Church…
Declaration on Masonic Associations, Nov 26, 1983

The censure is incurred if the society is one which plots against Church, openly or secretly, whether members are secret or not, bound by oath or not. I know of know prohibitions of oaths, secret or otherwise.
I don’t think so. I’m in the USAF. The penalty for unauthorized disclosure of classified infomation includes the death penalty. In essence, it is a blood oath that I willingly signed up for.Actually, it is a sin to belong to an organization that requires a (blood) oath of secrecy.
