Can someone simply explain a chaplet to me? Does it involve beads like a rosary?

A chaplet is a string of a certain number of beads. Actually a rosary is a type of chaplet. Various saints have their own “version” of the Rosary. For example a Chaplet of St. Therese has 24 beads to represent the 24 years of her life. They are sacramentals, like the Rosary, that show devotion to a particular saint, and/or aspect of Jesus or Mary, etc.

Check these out.

Wow, cool, I never knew there were so many. I was wondering how all these came to be? I know certain devotions were revealed to a saint by Mary or Jesus. Are any of these created. Can we create our own “chaplet” or groups/orders of prayers for our private devotions? Are their “approved” chaplets? This is something that I had wondered a while back when I first started falling in love with the Catholic church, and really wanted to learn to use prayer beads, but haven’t thought about in a while.

Looks like I’ll be researching different chaplets tonight. Thanks for the question.
