Hello.

My DH and I are currently working through Dave Ramsey’s program trying to achieve and maintain a debt free lifestyle. We are just starting out. We have several things for which we’d like to pray for intercession for their success. Namely, a garage sale in August in which we hope to sell some major big ticket items and bring in a substantial amount of money and then also that my husband’s health is such that he is accepted for a clinical research study he’d like to do that will bring in some money that way, too.

What is a good novena type of prayer for intentions to do with money?

Is there a good saint? I think I saw sometime on here about the Infant of Prague? Is that correct? 😊

We are going to be adding a focused effort on prayer during our time of getting rid of material things and paying our debts. If there is a good focused prayer of some sort, we’d definitely include it.

Yes, the Infant of Prague is often invoked in cases of financial need.

There are many other patron saints invoked in cases of financial need.

St Bernadette, St Germaine de Pibrac and St Maria Goretti (presumably because all were poor themselves, or from poor families)
St Martin of Tours (who famously gave cut his cloak in half and gave half to a beggar),
St Anne (not sure why)
St Anthony (‘St Anthony’s Bread’ is a particular custom of giving charity to the poor in his honour)

So … lots to choose from there!

St. Philomena, she is the BOMB…sorry I just love her to pieces. She is known as the Wonder Worker…

🙂 Then there’s St Jude, also well known as the patron of difficult/impossible cases. One of my high school teachers made a point of encouraging us to develop a devotion to him …

not that we were difficult or impossible, of course, we were total angels :getholy:

Our Lady of Good Remedy. The picture even has her holding a couple bags of money.

try Saint Claude La Colombiere…SJ…his feast day is Feb.!5…he was sent ot England, merry ole…and when he was discovered saying mass etc he was dragged off to prison ,beaten and when the jailers got bored he was exiled back to France!..from about 1682 to 1990 he had two …2.miracles and needed a third…and so Fr.John Houle SJ was honored to be that third needed miracle…some 300 years later!!! Fr.Houle was sent to China and in those days the anti-communist gov.was tolerant to Christians and he did fine till the liberators came in …1949…Fr.Houle was captured ,beaten and for some 4+ years suffered brutality above and beyond for his faith…in 1990 Fr.Houle was on his way out when his friend…fr.F.Parish…placed a relic of Blessed Claude on Fr.Houles forhead just before he went into a coma…all prayed for the intercession of Claude for John…and it worked…he was cured…the reports,x-rays,some 200 pages of documantation sent to Rome and after intensive investigation…it was a miracle…Blessed Claude became…Saint Claude…so if you want.pray to Saint Claude and also Fr.Houle…why not…I will also offer my humble prayers…N…ps.I used to show and talk with his film…Heart of a Priest.and thus got to know and have letters from Fr.Houle SJ…have a nice day and dont give up…N

Thank you for all of the suggestions…especially this one…I had not heard of Our Lady of Good Remedy…but I love the story and shared with the kids as we prayed our 2nd night of the novena last night! Thanks!

St. Matthew! He was a Tax Collector before receivng his call to be an Apostle. St. Matthew knows all about “financial woes”… having probably caused a great many, before his conversion. I would definitely ask St. Matthew for his intercession in any financial difficulties.

God bless. 🙂

Hi I would recommend Our Lady of Good Remedy. Mother Angelica prayed to Her when they needed financial help for EWTN. I prayed to Her a few weeks ago and She has really come through! I have the prayer on a card at home,(presently out of state, working) but could post it on this thread Sat.morning if you like.

“The Miraculous life of Father Houle,” is a uniquely relevant inspirational true story. My late uncle bestowed many gifts on the average person throughout his lifetime. This book is written for all ages to enjoy and pass on to generations to come. I was there the day a relic (bone-fragment) was used to bless my uncle Johnny. As we waited to see him I purchased a framed painting of the Virgin Mary and placed it directly across his bed to overlook and protect Father Houle. A few moments later we were told to leave and assumed the worst. My sisters and I thought as Catholics that last rights was the reason. Several priests entered the room and closed off the bed and closed the door. We learned later of the blessing with St. Claude’s relic.
I mention this because I have never written nor attempted writing a novel let alone one so emotional for me. I guess you could conclude it was his way of including me in his holy world. After publication several Jesuits contacted me and told me directly they felt Father Houle would be considered for Sainthood in the very near future.
If you are interested in miracles then please do yourself a favor and buy this book! Amazon, Buy, and many other online book sites carry copies. If your life is full of questions and insecurities maybe Father can help? God Bless…

No Novena advice but some practical advice. Try upping your asking price and posting on Craig’s list. You will likely make more that way even if someone talks you down.

Hello.

.
funny you should ask since we were just discussing this morning what is the best prayer for our situation (selling larger home, buying smaller home downsizing across the board, living debt free, bailing out of the system in general). DH likes the novena for the gifts of the Holy Spirit, as he feels that asking for these, no longer asking for material things, should govern our lives from now on. I put my little St. Joseph statue back on the window sill and had a chat with him, since he sold our first mobile home, our second mobile home, and my MIL’s home for us. I wonder of the word “carpenter” in the 1st C. also meant “real estate agent?”
