I noticed several comments about a Gregorian Mass on some other threads. I am familiar with the Pauline Mass and the Traditional Latin Mass, but not Gregorian Mass. Is it all chanted (Gregorian Chant)?

People mentioned really high suggested donations for Gregorian Mass. Why $150-300? In my diocese, the suggested donation for a Mass intention is only $10.

It’s not a different liturgy or missal. It’s when someone passes away and you have 30 Masses offered for them in a row. It is a tradition that was developed under St. Gregory the Great–thus the name “Gregorian Mass.” I hope that helped! 🙂

In our neck of the woods, the family of the deceased has them celebrated either in one location thirty days in a row; or friends and family get together and have them at different parishes and shrines, one a day for 30 days, with the final Mass of the series being celebrated at the deceased’s home parish. It is known as the “Thirty Day Mass” or “Month Mind Mass”.

Theoretically, couldn’t one just perform a plenary indulgence for the deceased instead of paying for the Masses?
