thank you gmarie21 and i’m a guy, sry i think i need to be more specific of my gender lol. and thanks also for bieng so kind i would offer you an e-hug but i dont feel like getting slapped…and pira why does my word as a witch mean nothing to you, is it because i am a witch? what if i was a christian then would it mean something to you?
Sorry that I assumed you were a female (most Wiccans I know are female). Our faith (Catholic) teaches (and I tend to agree) that witchcraft in all forms is from the Evil One (Satan). I truly believe those who are lost in Wicca are sincere in trying to find the meaning of life, particularly the meaning of their individual life. The desire for truth is not wrong, however, one should be willing to search and study all the proclaimed “truths” that are out there.

I fully know that the Catholic Church teaches the TRUTH, even though the humans within the Church are sinners. It is difficult for those who are lost to seperate the Church from the humans within the Church, but when the distinction is made, the love of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit increases and one’s faith will excell to peacefulness.

I don’t want to shove Catholicism down your throat, and I definitely don’t have all the answers, but if you are interested in learning more about the faith from someone who is Catholic but tries to not be judgemental, please pm me, I’m all eyes and ears. As with those Wiccans I know, I pray and hope for your sake that you will find your way to He who is Truth sooner rather than later.

~Gina

P.S. I send you out a Catholic Christian hug b/c even though you do not believe, you are still a brother in Christ

In the words of Polonius, “And this above all: to thine own self be true.” 😉
Remember the context of that quote in Hamlet–Polonius was the foolish adviser. To any educated man or woman of the Elizabethan era (actually anyone from Socrates to the late 18th C), that adage would have the height of nonsense. The ideal was to live up to a life of Virtue, NOT to “do thy own thing”.

Per Wiccan Ronald Hutton, Wicca’s “roots” or no deeper than the late 19th century–the same roots of the Boy Scouts! (NOT that Scouting=Wicca—only that certain philosophical and social trends birthed both practices–espeically the rejection of “modernism” in favor of a “natural man from nature”)

A retired civil servant (Gerald Gardner) with a taste for occultic ritualism and nudism, circa the 1930’s started dropping heavy hints about a surviving “Witch Cult” in Britain–in line with Murray’s “findings”. When the last legal prohibitions against “witchcraft” were dropped from the British legal code in 1947, surprise, surprise, Gardner changed his “witchcraft museam” into a center of “Wicca” and he of course he was an intiated High Priest. Never mind his “ancient ceremonies” were thin reworkings of Golden Dawn rituals–and expelled GD member Aleister Crowley was Gardner’s friend. A few years later, Alex Sanders said HE was an intiated High Priest of Witchcraft and started his competing brand of nudist-occultism.

From Gardner, we have the vastly inflated “9 million executed in the “Burning Times”” w/ Christendom as the culprit–said figure lifted from the utterly unsupprted claim of early feminist Matilda Joslyn Gage (1893) and repeated verbatim by such current Wiccan figures as Starhawk (ni Miriam Samos), Z Budapest, and Ravenhawk (TWO totem animals???:eek: )

Wiccan= A witch (supposedly)

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
1 Timothy 4:1-3

Can’t you just feel the love of Christ permeating this thread?

It’s one thing to argue against the beliefs and practises fo a religion, it’s another to hurl insults at its adherents.

I hope any Wiccans who might be just beginning to explore Catholicism don’t come across this one. A sure way to drive away the lost who might be making their first grasps at the truth.
I’m sorry sweeping in late, but let me tell you, SOME Wiccans may be wonderful people. Everyone I have known (basically those in NE Ohio), are adults who never got out of their gaming phase and are trying to be whatever character they developed.
Most are dropouts from society, living in their Mother’s basement and spending any money they get to talk to psychics and buy crystals.
Most can’t hold jobs, buy lottery tickets and live on the dole. Instead of seeing that they are responsible for themselves, they see the planets or whatever they are into this week, giving them a bad lot.
They have no clue what it is to be “Wiccan” anymore than I know what it is to be a nun by reading Mother Angelica’s book.

As I said before, they are Otaku without the echhi, if you get my drift.
However, once they use their common sense and realize that the lifestyle is getting them no where, they are good and decent people who laugh at the childish way they lived. My nephew was that way, and now has a wife and two mavelous children.

We just shake our heads at those people.

Thank you, netmil(name removed by moderator), for your willingness to admit that and for the qualifier.
