If none is suggested, you might find out hourly rates in your area for a copy editor, which is similar to the type of work the vicar general has done; consider the number of hours the vicar general put into work on your project; and use the resulting figure as a guide to discerning how much to offer. If the vicar general cannot accept the offered honorarium due to diocesan regulations, you might offer to donate the amount to your diocese in the vicar’s name.
