I felt the exact opposite. I was shocked by how many people don’t think white male privilege exists. I do not actually see the big deal about political correctness.

It is a big deal because it turns everyday human interaction into navigating a minefield. How are you supposed to socialize if you are constantly thinking about whether someone will be offended about this or that? And let’s not forget censorship.

I think there are far more conservatives than social justice warriors. I think social justice warriors is labeled towards anyone who leans more left.

I always thought political correctness had more to do with people minding their manners honestly. What the heck is social justice warriors? Why are they so bad? I obviously don’t see the world the same way a conservative does. I guess to some people that makes me brainwashed by the liberal media and wrong as if the only true way to be a good Catholic is support Donald Trump and be conservative. I think I’m just like anyone else on here. A product of my environment and experiences.

This conversation had nothing to do with being a good Catholic, so I am not sure why you are bringing it up.

That is not the common usage of the word political correctness. If it really was just manners, people would say manners.

The term social justice warrior is usually used to describe a leftist with totatlitarian tendencies and no sense of humor. And ideologue. Not just some leftleaning person who lives and lets live.

As much as I hate leftism, I would only call a leftist an SJW if they are being a killjoy.

Politics is of the world. Catholics are in the world, not of it.

That means sometimes I’m more aligned to the left with liberals and Democrats, and sometimes I’m more aligned to the right with conservatives and Republicans.
Thankfully enough Catholics didn’t fall for that seamless garment nonsense and we now have a pro life President and administration.

That’s generally what the threads turn into it. The evils of leftists or liberals. A catholic in good conscience cannot vote democratic. When I think Political Correctness, I think of the difference between calling someone “special needs” versus mentally retarded. Like how words are softened to describe things these days.
I do not understand why most Catholics are conservative or why left-leaning people are demonized on some forums.
I just conclude people simply see life differently.

Politics is also spiritual warfare. There is a reason Catholics were urged to pray the 54 day Rosary leading up to the election.

That’s where the gray area comes in. Who gets to decide what people should or should not take offensively? Who decides what is or is not too sensitive? This is usually where my head spins. I do not know when a joke or satire goes too far. People are vary too much. I guess if the majority of certain people find something offensive, then it is offensive.

I don’t know if I’d use the word softened although PC language can have that effect. I see it as more descriptive and accurate and is a person or group’s preferred wording.Using it shows respect and, as you put it, good manners.
