This is an important question for all Christians. As a young man, coming from a “non-denominational” upbringing, I had some faith in Jesus. So when it was time for me to devote to Him at a Church, I was compelled to learn about the Church, historically and why there are divisions with different interpretations.
1 Cor. 1
10*I appeal to you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree and that there be no dissensions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.
How do we come to “the same mind and judgment”???
I believe the Catholic faith has the greatest foundation and interpretation for all of her members to come together in one faith, understanding, Teaching, “mind”, and “judgment”.
We all (Christians) appeal to Scripture as the infallible Written Word of God! But this alone isn’t sufficient for all to agree on Teachings. Yet, we certainly cannot put aside the Scriptures, because they are from One author. We see, within Scripture, that Jesus established (or set apart) one of the twelve and prayed for him in this office which was distinguished from the others. Jesus also established His body and blood as a means to come together.
Holding fast to Jesus, will mean holding fast to the office of Peter and to His Eucharist. This brings perfect unity, so long as we are doing so with a clear conscience.
