What is Church Teaching on Life of Joseph?

Hello,

A friend asked me a question that I could not awnser. What does the church teach, or what are theological opinions on the life of Joseph before and after Jesus’s time on earth?

A referral to a book or church documents would be most beneficial.

Outside of the Gospels of Matthew and Luke there is very little information about St. Joseph. The Catholic Encyclopedia contains some of the traditions about the life of St. Joseph: Saint Joseph, Husband of the Virgin Mary, foster-father of Jesus Christ
