What is consequentialism and what is deontology?

I’ve heard that another word for consequentialism is teleologicism.Utilitarianism is apparently an example of one.What is deontology though?

I’ve heard that another word for consequentialism is teleologicism.Utilitarianism is apparently an example of one.What is deontology though?

Deontology involves somethng that is right or wrong independent of consequences because a norm or rule says it is right or wrong.

Abortion might be a good example. one could argue about consequesces, outcomes, results, but the Church says it is an intrinsic evil regardless of any outcome.
