I just started a book on Catholicism and Scripture and it has mentioned Dei Verbum once or twice? Could someone explain to me what that means in English and give me a background on Dei Verbum? Thank you. It is the first time I have heard of it. I am a fairly new Catholic convert of only 3 1/2 years.

Just to add a bit more to the previous post, Dei Verbum is Latin for Word of God. Papal documents usually get their name from the first few words of the document.

Dei Verbum is a Vatican II document on tradition (tradere - the “handing-on of Christ”) and the revelation of Christ through the Word.

DOGMATIC CONSTITUTION ON DIVINE REVELATION
DEI VERBUM
SOLEMNLY PROMULGATED BY HIS HOLINESS POPE PAUL VI

It is. It’s a very important document and very beautiful too.

Verbum Dei or Dei Verbum is it the same???

I dream of this last night, telling me to look verbum dei
I told this someone that I don’t know anything about that
but He keeps repeating it, and I told him I will look at it first thing in the morning…

Sigh…
I’ve been having strange dream lately
