What is determinism and "biological determinism" (if there such a thing as the latter)?

I’ve heard of predetermism.I’ve heard the debate of nature vs.nuture as just deciding which form of determism plays a bigger role.

What is determinism though and what is *biological *determism.Is it like for ex.if you have genes from a parent with dark hair you’ll get dark hair?.

Determinism is essentially the belief that all things happen of necessity and that there’s no free will. Biological determinism means the same thing, just applied to our minds and the gears that drive them. IOW, a Catholic believes we can choose how to react when someone insults us, a determinist believes we are fated to react the way we do, and a biological determinist believes that our brain chemistry/experiences/etc. force us to act a certain way. For us, the belief in a soul prevents this conclusion, as the seat of free will is separate from the laws of nature.

Determinism is an old and frankly, stupid heresy. It has been promoted by people who do not really understand Free Will nor its implications

It may be that other creatures could choose to perform one action over another but both options would have as their ultimate aim the preservation of their species. They might not be able or free to choose any option with a different ultimate purpose. They may not be capable of seeing the world except for how it is and how they would like it to be. We however have another option. We also re capable of seeing the world like other creatures but we have one more faculty. We can have a perception of how things OUGHT to be. Free Will, in short is the ability to choose to promote our perception of how things OUGHT to be at the expense of our animal nature’s desire to have things how we like them to be. So much could be said on this subject but I would just like to give two examples of our unique faculty.

A man and his dog were walking home one evening. Both were tired and hungry. The man stopped for a moment to admire the beauty of the fiery sunset. The dog could not take its mind off home and food.

If you were to play a song for a toddler, even one he never heard before, chances are he would dance to it. If you or even the baby were to hear it and one note was off you would sense that something was not how it OUGHT to be. That extra faculty which God gives us not only gives us Free Will, it makes the world come alive for us. It gives us the ability to enjoy life like no other creature. It gives us the ability to appreciate the beauty of morality and God Himself. It can also make us most miserable when we see discord with our selves or in the world. Still, I am sure it is worth it.
