What were the results of the investigation? Is he now a lay person?
No he is not a layman. Once a priest always a priest. I do think that he has been releaved of his ministerial authority at this time, which means he can not administer the sacrements. What were the results of the investigation? Is he now a lay person?
i hope I’m not too far out of line here, but this guy always seemed to me to be a little bit too overbearing, almost intimidating, in the way that he preached. Some of you may like that style, but it made me uncomfortable.

While it is true that a priest is always a priest there is a process of lacization within the Church that returns the priest to the lay state. No he is not a layman. Once a priest always a priest. But question remains: Did he or didn’t he? Did he go through this process, or he just walked away from SOLT and Church? While it is true that a priest is always a priest there is a process of lacization within the Church that returns the priest to the lay state…%between%
The process is a long one. Even if he just walks away the Church will process this. But question remains: Did he or didn’t he? Did he go through this process, or he just walked away from SOLT and Church?
i hope I’m not too far out of line here, but this guy always seemed to me to be a little bit too overbearing, almost intimidating, in the way that he preached. Some of you may like that style, but I always found him to be a bit of a bully. Whenever he came on EWTN, I had to change the channel.
Well here’s the thing, the only problem I had with Fr. Corapi was that he repeated the story of his less than holy life several times. To me, it started to sound more like bragging. Then I realized that I was seeing him at different locations, telling his story. I just happened to see the message several times on EWTN. I think that sometimes you can dig yourself into a hole that seems imposable to get out of. His message was that no matter what the hole you may find yourself in, you can get out.
He has not requested laicization (is that the right term?). He has ignored his superior’s order to return to the SOLT community house and live with his brothers. He has advertised that he believes he has to “draw a line in the sand,” and that this is “the end of an era.” His refusal to dismiss the civil lawsuit he filed against his accuser means that the investigation of the accusations cannot continue, because no interviews of the person who accused him can take place. But question remains: Did he or didn’t he? Did he go through this process, or he just walked away from SOLT and Church?
This process may take as long as five years from what I have read! The process is a long one. Even if he just walks away the Church will process this.
From my understanding of what has been going on it appears that he just walked away as he is refusing to follow what his religious superior is calling him to do.
That I do. Today is day for prayers and fasting for him ( facebook.com/event.php?eid=149615051779641 ) so it is only bread and water for me today. We will win him over! I wish he would listen to what he was preaching for last 20 years.… We must pray for him.
