Hi everyone, I know that Father Solanus Casey was recently beatified, but what is he patron of? Just curious, thank you in advance!
Indeed. And along this line of thought, Fr. Solanus was a Porter, which was the friar who would sit at the door of the friary or monastery, and greet people who came there searching for something. Sometimes they came to see a priest, sometimes they came in search of food, sometimes in search of advice, but in nearly all cases, whether they knew it or not, they came in search of God. Fr. Solanus would have been the one to greet them at the door, and the first, often only one to help the visitors encounter God in their lives.“Patron of” is less of an official designation than it is part of the cult that arises around a Saint.
Wherever they were born or lived will select them as a patron to some degree.
Their occupation, sufferings, illnesses, even manner of death will have some impact on their patronage (for example, a Saint who was a nurse or a farmer will be seen as a patron of nursing or farming).
