What is God telling you this lent?

Begining from Ash Wednesday, I am being tempted by Satan in all the possible ways. Everyday I cried and cried with the problems i was getting, and i thought Satan was keeping me away from Jesus. One of my aunt tried comitting suicide and prayers saved her, there was so much tension at home. I just ignored the temptation and continued with the prayers, reading Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Stations and attending mass regularly. In all the troubles God was with me and he made me do all my prayers regularly. In my work i faced such problems which was trying to avoid attending daily mass and prayers but God was with me and made me do all the prayers and attend mass daily. And He made me receive all the appreciations from my managers. PRAISE THE LORD. I somehow overcome the temptations and last sunday the temptations stopped. But now i am being tempted in someother way with which Satan is pulling me away from Jesus. But I thought whatever might happen I will not go away from Jesus. We are the half the way to Lent and I know Jesus will be with all of us and will show tremndous love on all of us. AMEN

God has shown me that I needed to let go of the resentments that I carried around stacked neatly in a little spot in my heart. Confession was wonderful for that. Nothing but God’s grace could do that.

He has also shown me that I need to be more careful about what I think and say about the people that aggravate the snot out of me. I need to work on being charitable.

I’ve also realized that just because I go to Mass as often as I can, stop in at confession more than the average person, and pray on a daily basis, doesn’t mean I’ve got it all together. There is still plenty that I have to work on - like being judgmental of other people.

Since I don’t really have a “road map” for Lent, I’m looking to Jesus for guidance and trusting that He will show me. I have to look for the things that He’s trying to tell me. That is not always easy.

Hopefully by Easter I’ll be a better person than I was on Ash Wednesday.

Misserissima (hope I got that right) I loved the way you put that. I will definitely focus on the little things-grand isn’t necessary.
thanks for that.

I don’t know. Maybe to be a good example. I have been asked to be a Godparent to my nephew in the Byzantine Rite. That includes being a confirmation sponser as well. Seems like I’m being put to the test with my own kids with the world trying always to intrude. I don’t want everyone so caught up in everyday things that the Lord takes a back seat. Keeping Him a focal point of the family is challenging with all the distractions a family can face. And they look to me to set the tone and the Lord knows it. Tim

I was on my way to morning mass today and I didn’t finish
my morning prayers in order to get there on time. I figured I’d
just finish later. I put the radio on in the car and the subject was: what is God telling you this lent? People were calling in with various things and I wondered what God was telling me. Well, there was an unusual traffic jam and the mass was half over by the time I got there. I knew God was telling me: Prayer First.
I wish I had the gift of interior locution, but I don’t. In the absence of this gift…I fast, I abstain (various things), pray the rosary daily, confession weekly and among other things… I listen and wait for Him in silence and stillness.

Aquiesce anima mea in Deus salus mea…

Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.

God is telling me to spend more time learning about Him and being with Him…through prayer, the Bible, and Mass. He’s also sent me a couple people I can minister to.

Only children think they can have everything they want.
Getting to have, do and be everything I think I want
is no gift at all.
key words: “everything i THINK i want.”

If i had gotten everything i thought i wanted, i would have been (and still would be  ) in a lot of trouble!!

When a person wants something, he should ask himself “Why do i want it? Do i really want it?”

Long story why this caught my attention, but anyway, the thing we should want most is to get into Heaven - and for everyone else to get there also. But how many of us really focus on that as much as we should?

To stop caring so much what people think… and more what God thinks…

“you’re spinning your wheels, kid. Go easier on yourself next lent”

I am wondering who this post was addressed to ?
Oh, that’s just the latest thing I thought God was telling me
this lent.

My lent problem is, I give myself too many things than can
possibly be done at once (at least by me). If I would choose
less, I could get more success. The one thing that I thought
would be the easiest turned out to be the hardest. That was
sitting up straight. What kind of a Christian witness does a
sloucher like me give? I was unable to go one full day sitting
up straight.

I always do this too. Well, i always did until this Lent. This time i chose something that i knew would be difficult (but very necessary)… and just stuck to that. Only problem was, i began to feel i was being lazy by not choosing more things to give up… (with myself, i am d-- if i do and d-- if i don’t…).

i have the same problem. But i don’t even bother trying to sit up straight anymore. I guess i just figured, what the heck, God (Jesus) accepts me as i am… so those who think i slouch can just do the same… 🙂

I am sooooooooooo excited. This Lent God is taking me back to the church with a full heart. He is teaching me about the Catholic church and how wonderful our Mother Mary is.
I am reading, reading, reading and trying to learn as much as I can to teach my 18 month old son.
I am praying the rosary everyday in my car–yeah!!! Something I have never done!!
:
I am soooooooo excited to hear from an enthusiastic Catholic

🙂 We need MORE!!!

Thanks for the compliment.
