So I have been getting very familiar lately with atheistic philosophy and scientific ideas to combat them. In doing so I stumbled across this video and don’t know what to think of it. This scientist uses scientific concepts to prove Gods existence.

The video on youtube is titled: “Believe in God in 5 minutes (Scientific proof)”
The Channel is: Sinai Speak

These arguments seem to be logical to me. This has also in a way changed the way I view God. At least God the father (if these things are true.) Would it be wrong (And I know this is going to be a weird comparison) to say that God is really like the Force in starwars. The force created Anikan in the same way Jesus was created. And both to destroy evil. Obviously Anikan and Jesus did not follow the same paths. But God is really more of a force (Because he is not a physical being) and both these forces willed into existence the “Chosen one” Or the one to bring balance to the galaxy (in the starwars case).

Any answers on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

No. The Force is not rational. And also, the Force is morally neutral, not good. In Revenge of the Sith, the true balancing of the Force was Anakin eradicating almost all of the Jedi, because the scales were unbalanced. Likewise, in A New Hope, Luke and Anakin almost destroy the Sith because they had too much power.

I have no idea about Star Wars. The son was not created and is co-eternal with the father. The son, the second person in the Trinity, took on human nature in time but the son’s Godly nature stands outside time.

Okay so I know its not the best comparison but in the sense that the force is more of an invisible thing like God in the sense where we cannot see it. Obviously God has qualities that differ from the force but I mean more of the concept of what it is.

Unfortunately the triune nature of GOD escapes our comprehension, we can never fathom the depth of the nature of GOD.
And also unfortunately every analogy will break down sooner rather than later.
But since GOD the father is a person and it is intelligent AND it has given us the gift of at least one spark of HIS intelligence we can try to come with better and better analogies. But with the caveat that we can never fully understand HIM.
Also very important is the fact the this mystery of the 3 persons and 1 GOD cannot be deduced by our minds or logic. In fact at first glance it would seem a logical contradiction this “3 in 1” 3 persons 1 GOD.
So how we came to this knowledge? GOD himself revealed it to us.
Aquinas posited that GOD the Father 1st person loves the SON 2nd Person and the SON loves the Father back and the LOVE being something from GOD is the 3rd person.
Also that is also one reason why GOD chose to create the Universe and us. By pouring out HIS love HE willed creation itself. But not in a coerced way. Since LOVE cannot coerce, it is freely given.

God is pure spirit. He has no divine body (only the human body assumed at the Incarnation) and can’t be localized to a point in space. He is the first principle of all things.

The Force is “an energy field created by all living things” according to Obi-Wan Kenobe, so that is really different than the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) that created all things out of nothing.

As a total Star Wars nerd, I could not help but chime in here.

Yes, there are certainly Christian references in Star Wars, such as the immaculate conception and virgin birth of Anakin Skywalker. But there are also lots of Eastern philosophy in Star Wars as well. George Lucas basically took “a little of this” and “a little of that” to create his own mythology for his Star Wars universe.

Anyway, to compare the Force to God the Father, is a flawed comparison to say the least. the Force and the Jedi and Sith philosophy surrounding it is more akin to the Tao of ancient Chinese religion. The Force is morally neutral, unlike God. And you can manipulate the Force, again, unlike God.

The comparison to Anakin as a Christ-like figure is again a flawed comparison. Anakin was conceived to bring balance to the Force, not for salvation. Anakin is far from a savior figure if you know the movies, he turns to the Dark Side, and then back again to the Light Side in Return of the Jedi.

Yes, there is a sacrificial theme of redemption where Anakin sacrifices himself to save his son, but then that would make Anakin more of “God the Father” rather than “God the Son”, because Christ never had offspring. Yes, it messes with your head. But at the end of the day, it’s just a fun fictional universe. George Lucas simply took aspects from different religions and cultures of our world and co-mingled them together to create his universe.

Now if you’re looking for a Christ-like figure from movie cinema, I would argue Superman may be a better comparison. I’m talking the original 1978 film, and its sequel (the Richard Donner cut of course). Jor-El speaks of a Kryptonian prophecy and says “The father becomes the son, the son becomes the father”. There’s this beautiful scene in the Richard Donner cut of Superman II where Kal-El (Superman) after giving up his powers (despite everything his father said to dissuade him), realizes the errors of his ways and is begging his father for mercy. Jor-El appears, reminds Kal-El that he made this mistake of his own free will. But out of love, Jor-El sacrifices himself to redeem his son, and now Kal-El carries his father inside of him always. So Superman had fallen from grace because he let his own passions govern him. He then needs his father to save him, and his father sacrifices himself for his son out of selfless love. I definitely see a lot of Christian mythos there.

Short answer: God is love. Nothing else.

Some will say that he is also vengeful and wreaks havoc on occasion. That is not hatred or anger, but the justice; the discipline that emanates from love.
