What Is Going On With Israeli Television?

I get news from the Vatican namely Zenit, and I understand that they are showing Blasphemous television concerning the Blessed Mother and Jesus in Israel. Just two weeks ago, the Israeli’s burned numerous books of the New Testament in a yard of a Synagogue.
These acts are being condemned by the Vatican. I don’t understand why they are allowing this to be shown in Israel, this kind of behavior is usually done in the Muslim countries.
 
I’d like to know exactly about what they broadcasted because i heard about the condemnations on our local channel.

I am not sure if they tell you exactly what happened, but if you go to Zenit.com, and look it up, you can see what the Vatican says about it.
 
According to the spokesperson from the TV show, it was a responce to the re-instatement of that Cardinal. That is a bogus answer. The Holocost is not a part of the Jewish RELIGION, it is a part of the Jewish History (And world history). A more fair response would be to make fun of the pope instead.
 
I can;t open Zenit. com, dunno why and i still do not understand what happened :confused:

OK, maybe I missed something but wasn’t just the excommunication lifted? I think the guy’s ordination is still illicit, and he has no valid jurisdiction. If I’m right and that is the excuse being given, then that’s pretty thin. Not to mention the fact that burning books is just ignorant and crass.

People do not understand what is going on in the whole thing. He was NOT excommunicated because of the holocost stance. In fact, I am not sure you can be excommunicated for that, though you can if they tell you shut up and you do not. Basically, it is one idiot’s big mouth causing trouble.

I am not sure about the books being burned, although several months ago something like that happened because a Christian group was passing out literature when they had told the government that they were not there to act as missionaries.

Yes you’re right the excommunication was put in place for completely different reasons. You’re also right that his conspiracy theory beliefs are not a grounds for excommunication. They might grounds to question his intelligence, but not to exclude him from the sacraments of the Church.

Also, I haven’t seen the story the it may not be true, I honestly hope it isn’t. I’ve always given credit to the Jewish people for their tolerance. As to the missionaries, I can see why that would have irritated the Israelis. Dishonest mission work belittles everyone involved.

If we assume that reason to be correct, it is very telling of the mentality of both the missionaries and the religious leaders there.

Isreal is as much a Western nation as anything else. It is increasingly secular. The religious authorities are doing like most ultra-traditionalists do: trying to limit exposure to other ideas. The missionaries decided that it was best to be underhanded about it, and you are right about the result of that. In the end, no one really won anything.

I am sorry Muslim Woman, but to behead Christians in other countries just because they are Christians/Catholic is the same thing as offending Jesus Christ.

Yeah, even if they believe Bible to be corrupted, I’ve never heard of a Muslim burning parts of it. Most of the Muslims I know still seem to revere it to some degree.
 
Please, we must tread carefully here. There are forces at work that want to see Christian support for Israel destroyed. I recently attended a pro-Hamas/Wipe Israel Off the Map rally with my trusty video camera and filmed the compulsory dhimmi Jew standing side by side with those calling for wiping Israel off the map.
 
Oh, now even if this is true, I personally wouldn’t write off a whole country over it. I would be disappointed, but nothing can change the fact that the Jews are our elder siblings in the faith of God. Further we should always strive to not make extreme or outlandish reactions when we feel wronged. The world has bled enough from that kind of approach to problems.
 
This story on Zenit is the first I have heard of it, and assuming I read the right one it didn’t provide very much information, but if there is complicity among Israeli media outlets in broadcasting anti-Christian blasphemy, I think the last thing we should have to do is “tread lightly” because of any affinities for Israel or a feeling of siding with them in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I do not believe any state or people should be free to engage in blasphemy without the strongest possible condemnation, and I would treat Israel here the same as I would hope the rest of the world would treat Iran’s media over its anti-Jewish propaganda, or U.S. media over instances of anti-Catholicism. The key is that when these things go unchallenged because of fear of offending cultural sensitivities or appearing to be on the “wrong side” of a political struggle, we do a disservice to our faith, which is above and beyond all national, ethnic, and political borders.

I do not care about our relationship with the Israelis more than our relationship with Christ. In the “Middle East’s only democracy”, home to the birthplace of Our Savior and the first Christians, our faith is threatened by anti-Christian extremists of all types. It is our duty to call them to task, not walk on eggshells when they happen to be Jews.

Orthodox Jew blasphemes against Christ (warning: horrible language, racism, general nastiness included)

If the person in this video were a Muslim, there would be no end to outrage expressed, and rightfully so. The Jews ought not to be above our criticism in this regard. Such examples as the video are vile and despicable from anyone. The Church and all its faithful are absolutely right to condemn such attacks in the most explicit manner possible. We must do so no matter where they come from.

I don’t disagree with you. I recently wrote to Melanie Philips about her anti-Catholic bigotry and hate, and two Israeli bloggers. You don’t think I focus ONLY on muslims do you? 😃

Oh, and don’t get me started on born agains and evangelicals. In a voice chat room I frequent, they have heard my voice, let me assure you. AND I’ve been pm’d by silent Catholics in those rooms to thank me for speaking out. By the way, I’m not talking about rooms discussing Christianity, I never bother with those rooms unless they are Catholic rooms.

I put these in the general category of anti-Catholic bigots; after all, it is still politically correct to slander Catholicism.

However, we are dealing here with something different to Islam, ie it is not a legal obligation as defined as a creator deity.
