What is Good and Evil?

God could make a world were adultery is okay according to what I recalled of Robert Bishop Barron.
Now I ask then, what is Good and Evil and the problem with Evil is that is it really based on an essence or a set sense of Morals?

Have you heard of St Augustine. He kind of defined this question in the church.

Read up on his documents. He is a Doctor of the Church and was a Bishop. St Augustine developed some good writings on this and free will.

Good is that which brings us closer to God. Evil is that which separates us from God. Sometimes, things that are evil start off as a good that is then misused or corrupted.

So, for example, telling the truth (aka veracity) is a good. But using the truth to be hurtful (such as an unsolicited “You’re so fat. You could stand to lose, like, 200 lbs”) is an evil.
