I have heard of some having an invisible stigmata. What’s the difference between this and just experiencing enthapy for Christ and His Wounds?

Of course, I do think some stigmatasts had the invisible stigmata prior to having the visible stigmata, so I don’t mean to imply that it isn’t a true spiritual gift, I am just wondering.

My opinion, invisible stigmata is the same as visible, though not as humiliating as the visible. As for empathy with Christ’s wounds, only God knows, and perhaps a spiritual director can begin in a very small way to help discern.

I suppose the stigmata would be more painful than what is possible through imagination alone, wherein you try to imagine the physcial pain, just an ounce of the true sufferings He experienced?

I don’t think we can fully imagine Christ’s suffering, they are so many, in body and in spirit.

The stigmata that some saints experienced is a mystery.

The main difference is one is visible and the other is invisible…
