Oof, them’s fightin’ words!
Have you actually been to Poland and seen how they practice their faith there?I guess I don’t see anything special about Poland, specifically, as a breeding ground for saints.
This is also my impression. The mere fact that it’s still there and keeps rebuilding after being destroyed and overtaken by non-Poles over and over and over and over again would be impressive to me even if they weren’t so Catholic.the number of times that Poland has had armies running through it for wars she wasn’t involved in is impressive . . . might have something to do with her character.
Christianity is diminishing rapidly across Europe under a tide of aggressive atheist secularism, but not in Poland. Now that is special. Christians in Europe need Poland as a beacon of faith to shine a light on the atheistic darkness that currently covers Europe.I guess I don’t see anything special about Poland
I have. Beautiful country.Have you actually been to Poland and seen how they practice their faith there?
We all should harshly judge xenophobia that morphs into antisemitism, as it has in Poland and several other European countries. The thing that concerns me a bit about Poland is that its desire for a national identity and to “keep what they have” and build on it (because a lot of stuff could use fixing up yet) can be interpreted as xenophobia towards outsiders.
Since I’m not Polish, I’m not going to judge them though. Also, to the extent they have some dislike of outsiders, I would find that understandable to some degree in view of what I have seen firsthand going on in other European countries that don’t seem well equipped to deal with mass influxes of immigrants from another culture.
The last part of comment, which you excised, is kind of important: “I guess I don’t see anything special about Poland, specifically, as a breeding ground for saints.”gracepoole:![]()

Last time it tried, it couldn’t handle it, and got conquered.Last I checked, Texas couldn’t handle being its own country.![]()
I didn’t say it isn’t special. It does seem, however, that I see things in Poland that you perhaps don’t see.If you’ve been there, then I find your view to be unusual, but then again, I find a lot of people’s views on the Internet unusual.
I think Poland is a pretty special place myself. YMMV
