First we have to remember Church justice and criminal justice are different. Church justice is mental more than physical, and is the result of treating all people equal to yourself, if you are concerned about the penalty for injustice that is achieving contrition and restitution. Here is my understanding of Church teaching in general language:

Justice – Treating others as yourself, achieving contrition and restitution for past acts.

Contrition – acknowledging the sin, the consequences of the sin, accepting full responsibility to include repenting and obtaining a true state of sorrow for ones responsibility.

Restitution – The making whole to the extent possible. To give back more than was acquired/required.

Hope that helps

Justice is the habitus whereby a man renders to each other with constant and perpetual will.
