āFruit of the Spiritā are virtues engendered in an individual by the acceptance of the Spirit and His actions in oneās life. The Tradition of the Roman Catholic Church, (Catechism of the Catholic Church, Section 1832), lists 12 Fruits of the Holy Spirit: ācharity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, [and] chastity.ā Many Christians believe that these fruits of the Holy Spirit are enhanced over time by exposure to the written word of God and by the experience of leading a Christian life. They further believe that the Fruits of the Holy Spirit are products of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit: āwisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord.ā
The fruit of the Spirit is what we,as christians, are suppose to be like so we stand out as people who love and follow Christ. I have done 2 bible studies on this. The last one I just did was through a book called A Womanās Walk with God by Elizabeth George.
Being kind is an action on our part. Kindness is described as tenderness and concern for other people. In her book, Elizabeth defines kindness as kindness plans to do something. We should go out looking, actively seeking, wondering and asking, āWho needs loveā, āHow can I ease someoneās burden?ā,āHow can I touch another person?ā
Kindness should infiltrate our entire being/personailty. We should always act on an opportunity to do something for someone. We should also seek it out.
The bible speaks about being kind.
Ephesians 4: 25-32
Colossians 3:12
2 Timothy 2:24
The only way anyone is going to know we are a true follower of Christ is through the fruit we bear on the outside for the world to see. I hope this helped.
