What is love?

So much of the Christian experience is tied up in the notion of love. It’s a word that’s used a lot and in many contexts. Is there a proper conception of love that is used in Christian - specifically Catholic - thinking? Not just the distinctions between the four notions of love, but what it actually means in Catholic thought and the work it does in it.
