I’ve never completely understood this phrase, and recently a Southern Baptist friend of mine, who was honestly trying to understand the Catholic faith, asked me at what point do Catholics get saved. I’ve always thought that being ‘saved’ meant that one had accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord & Savior and, honestly, I don’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
I didn’t know for sure how to answer her, but I felt that maybe the sacrament of Confirmation was the closest thing to what she was asking. Can any protestants explain the idea of being saved to me? And can any Catholics explain if there is a comparable event in the Catholic church?
Thanks
