What is moral obligation regarding credit card debts?

Hi,

I am writing to ask what my moral obligation is regarding paying down a debt. I have a low-paying job, and significant credit card debr (a little under 12,000). We took a pay cut at my job. I was thinking of getting a second job, but don’t know what I could do.

I ask this because when one is so strapped financially, is it immoral to have pets (I live alone)? Is it immoral to pay for some entertainment?

We have a moral obligation to pay our debts as agreed and not to assume debt that we cannot repay.

If you are able to make your minimum payments you have met your moral obligation and anything above/beyond that is best discussed with a financial adviser.
