I read that in a post. It came from 3 Bishops. I have heard of right and wrong, but never optional.

Is morally optional a growing category?

Is that the Church’s way of saying “We don’t know, go away”?

Thing that are matter of “counsel” etc…

Like it is morally optional that one may choose this Friday to go to Church and pray for an hour…

Sunday Mass…is not “morally optional”…

I don’t necessarily think that the church is saying, “We don’t know, go away.” But, rather leaving the decision on a certain matter up to the individual(s). There are certainly many, many areas where the churches’ teaching is quite clear, for example following the commandments, what they command as well as what they forbid. The Church, I believe has done well to keep up with the times, but there are still many areas that might be obscure, leaving us to wonder if something is allowed or forbidden by the Church.

One must remember, we are not left alone to make all these decisions on our own without guidance. We have our priests, who represent Our Lord, for us to always go to for help and guidance.
