Matthew 6:25-34

I tend towards high anxiety too often, and this passage is good medicine when I let myself get worked up too much. It’s just a beautiful passage. **
James 1:19-20
Know this, my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger, for the anger of man does not work the righteousness of God.
I wish we could all live with this as a mantra!
Romans 13:8-10
Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this sentence, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. **
I could meditate on this passage alone for a lifetime.

I would submit that I feel fortunate to be Catholic… as we have more Bible verses to choose from that some, and appreciate the full Gospel in its beauty with no passage that needs to be overlooked or forgotten. Some have thrown out entire books, and others have passages that are inconvenient and therefore ignored… brushed under the rug in hopes of not having to see it or them. These people are in relative poverty, and we must continue to offer them the fuller meal.

This verse was quoted to me by my AA sponsor doing a very difficult time of my life. Notice the verse does not tell us to tell our problems to Jesus. but tells us to turn them over to him The world is full of people that will listen to your problems- this verse tells us to give them to the Lord and he will take care of them,

I do not have a favorite passage. I have a favorite chapter. John chapter 6. Jesus’ Bread of Life discourse is one of the main places where He plants the root of His Gift of the Eucharist. I find it amazing that many protestant and other non-catholic denominations insist they are total scripture and “full Bible” and even insist that God’s word is literal in the Bible, but then look you in the eyes and tell you that the Bread of Life discourse is a parable.
Beginning with verse 53:
“Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.”
The Bread of Life Discourse is not preceeded by the typical parable text where Jesus states that “The kingdom of heaven is like…” or “There once was a man who…” or “Suppose you…”. He never said that “This bread and wine represents my flesh and blood…”.

I like the one about how whatever you do to the least of Christ’s brethren, you do to Him (God). (St, Mt 25:31). If everyone in the world lived by this one, we would be doing great…
Instead, the unborn, the most innocent and closest to God of all… (probably) are treated like they are a disease…
and then because THEY are, all of society is treated this way as well… next it will be the old people who are thought of as “punishments” (Barack’s term for the unborn)… and since there won’t be any young people to support all the old ones…
all the more reason to get rid of them…

The awful-nes of this world is enough to make one believe in a better one in the Great Beyond even if one were NOT Christian…
but then, most non-Christians probably don’t mind this world one bit… after all, they are not unborn… and many are not elderly…
