And for me, those who voted for McCain/Palin. I don’t get that. BTW, as to the bumper stickers, living in a "red’ state I see many McCain/Palin and “W”. I’d consider that purgatory time as well. 😉

You’re making assumptions on those of us who voted for Obama. Many of us look at the whole picture and made our decisions. It’s judgements like these that some Catholics make about others that divides us.

m."
you might want to consider tht the Roman Cathlic Church ex-communicates those who promote abortion…

No, I would not want anybody to mess with my car. :nope: And yeah, I guess maybe you could stretch it and say your car had been vandalized. (a big stretch) I still think cars look classier without the Obama stickers. 👍
Well, that last part is a matter of opinion (whether cars look better without obama stickers.)

Regardless, a car is someone’s personal property. And whether you like what sort of political stickers they have on their car is not a reason to vandalize someone’s personal property. 👍 It is not a stretch to say that if someone’s car had a sticker yanked off of it by someone other than the owner of the car and without permission it could be considered vandalism. Just because you don’t agree with their political views doesn’t mean it is considered a “stretch” to say the car was vandalized.

Double standards. Watch out for those! 😉 👍

Well now GodisGracious, it’s funny you should say that. Actually what our priest was talking about was stickers being taken off cars. Wasn’t me that did it, but the thought did cross my mind. I’m not going to “jump on you,” but it just irks me that a lot of people ignored Obama’s stand on “life issues.” I guess I’ll just surf on over to the social justice section now. Maybe I need to do some time in Purgatory for being glad somebody had the guts to rip those Obama stickers off those cars. 😃
I will be in a lower level of Purgatory myself…

for NOT ripping them off… 😦

Perhaps. But it also doesn’t know the heart and mind of someone in the voting booth either. 😉

And already I’m being jumped on.

Ok, well, let me ask you this. Would you have wanted to have had any sticker of yours taken off of your car? Wouldn’t you have considered your car to have been vandalized?
vandalized???

typical liberal hype…

doesn’t have to… promoting abortion is promoting abortion…
And that is like saying, “red is red” or “swimming is swimming.”

Not everyone who voted for Obama is promoting abortion. YOU may think they are, but that doesn’t mean they are.

Like I said, the church does not know the heart and mind of the voter in the voting booth. Only God does. Sometimes even the voter doesn’t know as some people are so lost even to themselves.

That being said, I pretty much already know how you feel and think regarding Obama, as most pro-life people, so this is an “agree to disagree” point in this discussion.

GodisGracious, if you support someone that supports an act, such as abortion, then you become party to that act. You cannot do it. Those are not my words but those of a priest.

no, just the ones who knew BHO was pro-abortion…

and anyone who didn’t know that much had no business voting…

Irrelevent.

does this mean i don’t have to read your posts anymore… ? :extrahappy:

forget priests… we’ve seen so many of those being liberal…

the Roman Catholic Church teaches this…

actually the Church doesn’t officially ex-communicate many people… but you automatically excommunicate yourself if you promote abortion… (or do other things that are seriously “not Catholic”… heretical… )

You got to quite slamming priests at every turn.

distracted you are right. But I fear many Catholics have forgotten that. And you’re exactly right that we seem to have an overabundance of liberal priests. I think I’ll add that to my Purgatory list, having to attend Mass at a parish that I know has a priest that is quite liberal.

i feel your pain… 😦

but … believe it or not there may be something worse than having to deal with a liberal priest…
a priest who is liberal one day and Catholic the next… that’ll drive you a little batty, for sure…:hypno:

but you know… now i htink about it, Orthodox every other day is better than no orthodoxy at all… so uh…

as Emily Latella used to say… Nevvvvvvveeeerrerrr mind… 🙂

so… you can’t go elsewhere? you live out in the country or whatever? I feel for you. i used to live in a big city where i could go to any of about 20 Churches… i sure miss that… and the bishops always send the best priests to the big parishes… so i’ve heard…

anyway, my priest is being pretty orthodox (so far) so can’t complain…

just how is your priest not orthodox?

sufferings for the day:

posters who use ad hominum… ad nauseum…

and what is worse than that…

i sometimes can’t seem to resist responding… :banghead:

another suffering: didn’t get to spend time with Jesus in the Real Presence… (big one) :crying::crutches:

You can read all about what Purgatory is really like in ‘Mist of Mercy’ by ‘Anne a Lay Apostle’. go to

to find out more about this, you wont be disappointed.

We go through Purgatory in this life… in our sufferings and hardships…

Here are some of my “purgatories”:

Obama '08 bumper stickers… :ouch:

people who think the Catholic Church is the Whore of Babylon :banghead:

the fact that the whole world isn’t devoutly Roman Catholic.

etc, etc…
***For those who actually may not know what Purgatory is; it is a place of preperation and purification made necessary by imperfect man.

1 John 5: 13-18, Jn. 20:21-23. Mt. 16:19 and 1 Jn. 1:8 “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” ***

Mt. 5:48"You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect."

***Because man is seldom perfect, and that “PERFECTION” is a condition for entry into Heaven, and because of God’s infinate Mercy and Love, He provides a way for those who with the latent effects of sin, perhaps unconfessed, unrepented lesser sins [Venial sins] to make ammends, to be perfected in our after life.

Thee Church teaches that such is the Wisdom and Will of God. Of course if one where to die with unconfessed, unrepented Mortal Sin, such a person would thus commit themselves to Eternal Hell

Prugatory is thought to mimic hell expect for ONE HUGE DIFFERENCE* the souls in Purgatory gladly endure their suffering knowing clearly and full well that they once perfected, they will get to spend Eternity with Christ, face to face. Those souls in hell are most tormented by the despair, total and complete because they know they will never get to spend Eternity in the Divine Presence of God.**

Love and prayers,

Love and prayers,
the Catholic Church seems to me to be “negligent” in not emphasizing how we can do our Purgatory (a lot of it, even all of it if we choose) by such things as offering up our daily sufferings to atone for our past sins (which have hopefully been sacramentally forgiven in Confession)…

such things as: financial problems, teenagers :D, having to say NO to your sexual urges… :hypno:
you name it…

this is called Expiation… “He is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness”

notice it not only mentions forgiveness but being cleansed from ALL unrighteousness…

human nature being what it is, we fight this process… but I’m thankful the Church gives us so many ways to expiate… (rosary… Masses… sacrifice… time spent @ the Real PResence… etc…)🙂
