What is taking the Lord's name in vain?

One argument I’ve heard is that according to God, in the bible, His name is Yahweh or I Am, also Jesus or Jesus Christ, and therefore anything else like the other typical curses are not taking His name in vain because they are not technically His name. I argued that God is His name as well. The response was that it’s not because it’s not His name according to Him.
