What is taught about the Early Church in Non Catholic religions?

Evangelicals overhear Catholics talking more about the Bible than RC’s used to {true}
so they infer we are reading it more than RC’s used to (doubtful, but let’s keep that secret). The bigger question is whether we are living it more than we used to.

They would not consider the RC faith as equal or more biblical than evangelicalism, but my reading suggests they consider Catholic explanations as somewhat more plausible, “OK I can see your point on this”, though they still hold to their former interpretation.
Yes, the “falling away” is intensifying in Western countries. This is partly due to our fallen nature, but more serious because of the growing power of “The World”, the extreme pressure from the media which is forming many young Catholics and evangelicals. The Catholic Church is suffering huge losses in individuals and institutions who no longer accept the doctrine of the Faith. But the Church has not suffered any loss of the doctrine of the Faith itself. The reliability of the guide is not affected by whether many follow it, or few.

I am so far from what Jesus intended** me** to be, I need to spend less time reading, writing and worrying about organized religion. I have enough dark spots in me that need the flashlight of prayer and deeper conversion. Love too.
Good point, I can identify with that as well.

I remember a non denominational friend of mine back then (though he was not practicing his faith) telling me that he always thought The Bible did just kind of fall out of heaven.
Well, I’ll be! I’m not as nuts as I thought! 😛 😃 😉☜ (note emoticons)

That may sound funny but then we have seen and being said that:
  • The Catholic Church did not give us the Bible
  • The Catholic Church began in the 4th century by Constantine
  • St Peter was not the first Pope
  • early Christians did not celebrate the Eucharist
Could lack of teaching and formation on the ECF be a cause of all these misinformation?

I dare say you can’t really consider yourself an Orthodox Christian if you don’t have some knowledge of the Church throughout the centuries.

This subject interests me solely for Islam’s knowledge of the early Church from the time of records of Islam’s early days. Apparently I’ve not got any accurate feedback by any Muslim except for what you can easily find on the net about the early Church and simple rejection or just silence.

I’m sure that the lack of historical teachings on the ECFs and the fact that we don’t all have the same bible lends itself to all kinds of misunderstandings. But there is also willful ignorance. There’s not much you can do with that.

In Orthodox countries, we teach that Rome was part of the early Church, a good defender of Orthodoxy, then in 9th century Rome just went crazy and they went so far in their madness that they started shaving beards and burning People alive. lol And then we mention Filioque and your inferior mass.
It goes something like that. 😃

I thought the ninth century was when the Orthodox went mad, removed the Filioque, grew beards and started freezing people to death?

No, that is golden era, when st Photius sent holy apostolic brothers to convert the Slavs to Orthodoxy 😃
