The board is a spirit medium IMO. Guess who will take advantage of that?

Wow…this stuff really isn’t anything to mess around with. Before I was born, my grandmother and her best friend would play with ouija board. My grandmother’s friend asked it what she could do to win the lottery. It told her to go to Basha’s (that was our local grocery store chain) and purchase a ticket, and she would win. She followed the board’s advice, and when she didn’t win the lottery they went back to the board to ask it why…

It told her she went to the wrong Basha’s store.

I was reading this thread and had already formulated my reply when I read yours - you got there before me. 👍

To the OP It’s a load of old hokos pokos gobbledegook… utter and complete and total nonsense … they have been shown time and time again to be utter claptrap by psychologists and exposers of the mystics and psychofrauds.

Bin it if your mate is uncomfortable with it. Note she never had a problem till you told her how ‘‘evil’’ this thing was.

sigh
There have been threads on this topic in recent times where posters including me have talked about things we have seen that were certainly not “claptrap”. It was a way of life for me and several people I was close to in the early '90’s. It’s real. No amount of “exposing” by psychologists or Randi or anyone can change that. I’m not talking about anything that could possibly have been faked or caused by “ideomotor effect” etc. Who would fake some of the things we’ve seen? No wires, no remote control. No one touching it. No dark corners or gauze or tables or any of that. It’s real and dangerous.

Any number of good entertainers like Randy or Darren Brown. In fact Darren Brown has done several tv programmes where everything was filmed and people were debreifed afterwards and they were helped to understand that they did NOT in fact see what they had described and felt, nor could they, it wasnt there, it didnt happen, it was ALL in their heads.

It’s a bit of paper or card or whatever - nothing more and nothing less. It was designed as a parlour game in the late 1800’s when living room seances, all of them fraudulent committed by conmen and women, where very popular entertainment. It was an instant hit and sold by the millions. It was created and sold to cash in on the craze at the time. It was nothing more than a money spinner for it’s inventor and the games company that now own the rights - Parker I think it is.

The ‘‘exercise’’ of contacting the dead or whatever is psycholgically loaded and doesnt need a gamesboard to get the desired result from the assembled crowd. People come to the Ouija board having heard all the scare stories, demonic contacts, visions etc and lo and behold, they experience something similar. Why do you think that might be 🤷

I do not deny the existence of evil or the devil. I understand and agree whole heartedly with the Churchs position on all things supernatural. BUT I dont think anything is being served by hyping what is nothing more than a lump of plastic and worrying people half to death. Again to the OP, just dump the thing. End of.

I’d like to point out for CreatioNova that the case of possession that inspired the movie The Exorcist was caused by playing with a Ouija board. (The whole story is detailed in the book, POSSESSED: The True Story of An Exorcism by Thomas B. Allen.)

I had some friends who played with the board and it told him that his brother would die. That afternoon his brother pulled up on a motorcycle in front of his house and he was struck by a semi and killed instantly as he was getting off his motorcycle.

These things are evil, and it is of benefit to the dark one for anyone to think it’s nonsense.

To be honest, I’ve never been able to get a Ouija Board to work and I’ve tried numerous times. That’s surely been a blessing although a lot of other people have experienced negative things from it. I’ve never witnessed anything supernatural about it. Of course, dabbling in the occult is very wrong and you should just throw it away as soon as possible.

I agree with the others, just smash it and throw it out of your house. Not much evil spirits can do if you aren’t a willing participant of it. Resist the devil and he must flee.

I’m glad to hear you believe that the devil exists. However, a lot of exorcists would disagree with your assessment of the Ouija board being “nothing more than a lump of plastic.” I heard a talk by Fr. Euteneuer, and he said that we should definitely stay away from this. Ouija is two words oui and ja, both mean yes. This thing can open us to influences of the devil when we use it. By all means get rid of it, throw it away, don’t use it. Just as God uses material for our salvation (sacraments have both form and matter,) the devil mocks God and will use material for our demise.

I would be very wary about destroying something that has anything to do with the paranormal. The vengeance that could be wrought upon her and her family might be more than she can bare. She should put it outside of her house for now.

She should get in contact with John Zaffis at prsne.com/ and ask him. I sat in one of his lectures and he is the real deal.

Evil spirits believe in vengeance. She should be very careful.
God can take care of that problem. Break the thing so that, if it is found, it cannot be used. Throw it out. Our God is greater than these demons. They only have as much power over you as you allow them, or God allows them.
They do believe in vengeance. God will protect you.

I have a friend who I’ve found out has a Ouigi board. I’ve spoke to her about all the reasons why they are bad and now she wants to get rid of it.

The problem is I don’t know how to instruct her to do it properly. Is there a certain way to get rid of them?
i think the person ought to go to confession if she used it, say some prayers, sprinkle some holy water on it, and then burn it

I’ve seen things it would have taken hundreds of dollars no one had, and hours of set-up no one could have been there to do, in rooms I lived in. Not possible. It was not faked. And no one stood to profit in any way. I don’t deny the existence of magicians. I grew up around them. I know what they can do. I know what they can’t do. They can’t do what I saw with the resources that existed in those times and places and then clean the place up. I lived there. I’m not talking about a tipping table or gauze pouring out of someone’s mouth in the dark. I’m talking about a board in my room in bright light in the center of the bedroom rising into the air and continuing to spell words very fast while everyone scooted away screaming. I used that board afterward. It had nothing attached to it. The words it spelled out were coherent and would have required extremely expert remote control to make it spell them so fast without errors. No one was touching it. There were no curtains or doors to hide behind. I was in the doorway. I saw it spell things no one could have known and not just when any one person was there either. It spelled words no one understood but me and I wasn’t touching it, or talking to the people who were. These were not the kind of things fortune-tellers say, flattery and dire warnings and promises of wealth, but crude statments about people’s private lives including mine. Predictions of things people wer egoing to say to us the next day or later that day that came true. The info that I was pregnant hours after it happened. The existence of obscure places in the world, which turned out to exist. Appliances moving int he next room. A roommate almost getting killed.Things like that. This happened alone and in all kinds of groups. It was a way of life, not a seance in the dark with moaning and drama and knocking on the table.
No, the board itself doesn’t have that capability. It’s cardboard. We made homemade ones as well, pendulums, a binder clip and an alphabet scribbled in a diary to make it look like you’re writing in your diary on the bus when you’re actually gettign a last-minute session in before class. The commercial board ahs nothign to do with it.

The boys Aunt messed about with them, as reported at the time.

Do you have any film, video or photographs of these events happening?

Yes, and she also introduced the boy to Ouija, and he played with the board regularly.
I’m not adding any more to this thread as I fear I may be comming across as someone trying to defend these things. I’m not. There’s just tons of misinformation and disinformation and hysterics acociated with them.

To come back to the OP - as I said before, and as a few other calm voices said without all the histrionics, it’s just a bit of cardboard, dump it, burn it, whatever, just get trid of it and move on.

God Bless Us All.

Bless it and burn it. That stuff is dangerous. I’ve known at least six people who’ve had terrible experiences. You wouldn’t want another person to find it and be tempted to play it.

No. What would we have wasted our money on filming it for? We didn’t live that way to convince anyone of anything, but to discover what we could about all that exists and to find guidance and power to live our own lives. Since no one made any money off it nor tried to, and since it didn’t cause anyone to be the focus of much attention very often, and since it didn’t keep anyone out of trouble in any way nor make anyone popular or anything else, there was no reason and no means or opportunity for almost any of it to be faked. It was a way of life for many people, ranging from preteen boys and girls to teenage boys and girls to men and women in their 20’s and 30’s. We had no reason to record it or prove it to anyone. Gathering proof that we lived the way we lived in the milieu that was our day-to-day life rarely occurred to anyone and when it did we generally had better uses for our money and energy. Actually we thought we would be harmed for telling too many outsiders what was going on. I have decided that we won’t be and I’m talking about it both to warn people and to get it off my chest. I have little interest in the opinions of people who weren’t there just as long as those who may be in danger get the warning they should have.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t burning it be a really, really bad idea? I mean, I’ve heard that when you try to burn plastic, the fumes can turn toxic, which would then lead to asphyxiation. Which, you know, not a desirable condtion.
