What is the best way to receive the Eucharist when you have a feeding tube?

I have been on a feeding tube for almost a year due to health conditions. I receive my nutrition by a j tube gong into my intestines. I do not receive our Savior by mouth because anything that goes in, comes back out by the forms of vommiting. This does not seem ok to me. So I have refrained from partaking in the Eucharist. What is the best way to partake in the Eucharist or do I just refrain from doing so?

There appears to be a bit of debate as to whether the Eucharist can be administered through a feeding tube and whether the local bishop has authority to approve it. The only way it could happen is if a few drops of the Precious Blood were placed into the tube. This would, at a minimum, require the permission of the Ordinary. However, some diocesan websites explicitly state the communion is prohibited to be administered in that manner. You can always ask your local chancery, but I wouldn’t say the odds look good.

Your best bet seems to be to receive spiritual communion, Ecclesia de Eucharistia:

In the Eucharist, “unlike any other sacrament, the mystery [of communion] is so perfect that it brings us to the heights of every good thing: Here is the ultimate goal of every human desire, because here we attain God and God joins himself to us in the most perfect union.” Precisely for this reason it is good to cultivate in our hearts a constant desire for the sacrament of the Eucharist. This was the origin of the practice of “spiritual communion,” which has happily been established in the Church for centuries and recommended by saints who were masters of the spiritual life. St. Teresa of Jesus wrote: “When you do not receive communion and you do not attend Mass, you can make a spiritual communion, which is a most beneficial practice; by it the love of God will be greatly impressed on you”
