Are Catholics supposed to believe in a 7 year tribulation or pre/post tribulation rapture? What about the antichrist? What is the Vatican’s stance on this?

The Catechism provides us with a general order of events at the End [CCC 673-677]. Chronologically they are,
  1. the full number of the Gentiles come into the Church
  2. the “full inclusion of the Jews in the Messiah’s salvation, in the wake of the full number of the Gentiles” (#2 will follow quickly on, in the wake of, #1)
  3. a final trial of the Church “in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth.” The supreme deception is that of the Antichrist.
  4. Christ’s victory over this final unleashing of evil through a cosmic upheaval of this passing world and the Last Judgment.

Read the Catechism’s section on this topic, and get a good book that discusses it.

I have read “The End of the Present World and the Mysteries of Future Life” and also David Currie’s books.

I hear “Trial, Tribulation, and Triumph” is very good, but I have not read it.

Indeed, Galactus is coming…
Little known fact: A one Monsignor Fantastic is working diligently on a Holy Ultimate Nullifier in anticipation of said event 😃

I can’t recall one single time where a Priest’s Homily was geared towards rushing out to prepare ourselves for the tribulation/rapture period.

The Catholic Understanding of the End of Times is as Jesus has Taught:
44 Wherefore be you also ready, because at what hour you know not the Son of man will come. (St. Matthew 24)

…wait, are behemoth coming back? Have they unlocked the gene sequence that will release them?

For anyone interested, it looks like Catholic Answers has a $5 book sale, and among the titles is one called “What Jesus said about the End Times.”

Also, Karlo Broussard from Catholic Answers has some good videos on youtube about the end times.

I used a youtube to mp3 converter to listen to them on the way to work (along with hundreds of videos from Sensus Fidelium on youtube).

Hi. Could you add some links to the ones you’ve found to be particularly useful? Thanks.

I would start by reading Mark 13, Matthew 24 & 25, Luke 17 & 21, Daniel, Zechariah, 1 & 2 Thessalonians, and Revelation with a good study Bible (I prefer the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible or the RSV-CE2 Didache Bible). Then, the Catechism from 659-686.

Catholic Answers itself has many good posts on the topic if you search for it.

Youtube has good videos by Karlo Broussard and Tim Staples (both Catholic Answers contributors) and John Martignioni (he is on EWTN).

It is a lot of reading at first, so to abbreviate it I’d start with the Catechism section and then one of the synoptic Gospel passages and then one of the online videos.
