What is the Catholic Church's teaching on unity candles?

What is the Catholic Churches teachings on Unity candles in Marriages between two practicing Catholics. My daughter is gettin married in the fall and both she and her fiance don’t want to add or remove anything that isn’t in full communion with the church.

Hi,

Unity candles are allowed, but not required. They are not an essential part of the nuptial Mass. This is true of several other optional practices such as flowers to the statue or icon of Our Lady.
