What is the Catholic point of view on tithing?

What is the Catholic point of view on tithing? I hear so many Protestant churches and evangelicals on TV talk about tithing. Most Protestant churches expect their people to tithe 10% of their income. I don’t ever remember the Catholic church telling us how much we should donate.
