What is the Catholic way to mourn the loss of a pet?

I am so sad. I had to have my cat put down a couple weeks ago and I am heartbroken. I know they don’t have souls, but I am sad regarding that. I know that if I reach heaven, I won’t care about seeing the pet because God will be all I need; however, strictly for the pet’s sake, I want them to be with their Maker so they can be happy. She was such a sweet cat and so loyal, it seems like such a disservice that these sweet creatures of God can’t see Him. I don’t know the Catholic way to mourn her loss. I am not angry just sad…😦
