Evolutionists: why do you believe that the word “evidence” has the same definition as “proof”?Every time someone has a question such as “How is evolution true? Where is your proof?” someone usually answers with “It’s true because we have evidence.” or something similar. Just admit that there is no PROOF that evolution is true, only theories exist.
Are people in this section aware that having evidence of something does not mean that you have proof of something? I bet that if I said that there is some evidence for Christianity, there would be atheists in this section who would fly off the handle and criticize me to no end.
Why are so many atheists/evolutions under the impression that having a small amount of evidence (which we do not even know if it is real, by the way) automatically proves their theory?
Proof is a hard thing to come by. There is no proof that the Sun is going to rise tomorrow appear to rise in the east. We have an incredibly well supported theory that predicts that it will, but we can not prove it.
However, there are many instances in which the evidence for our theories are so well-established that it practically futile to suggest that our theory could be incorrect. For instance, dropping a brick on planet Earth will always, so the theory goes, fall until it hits the ground.
It is often the case that people who don’t believe that evolution is true don’t know all of the evidence for it and don’t understand the evidence if they have heard of it. We have transitional fossils from every major evolutionary change. We have observed mutations in the lab. We have observed new mutations in human beings and other animals. We have discovered new species that could not have lived more than 100 years ago because their food source hadn’t been invented yet. We have demonstrated common ancestry with chimpanzees through endogenous retroviruses and mutations in the genetic code.
Through thousands of successful predictions, and independently confirmed experimental results, the case for evolution of species is as certain as any discovery of the past 200 years. It is hard to fathom that anyone will discover a better explanation of the observed data than evolution.
When you say there is evidence for Christianity, I find it hard to believe that your evidence is as persuasive as that for evolution. Can you demonstrate that God is our Father? How would you do that?
How do you come up with an independently verifiable and repeatable test to show that the Holy Spirit exists? How can we determine that Jesus is the “Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages?”
What tangible, testable, verifiable evidence do you have?
Believing in Christianity requires faith. Accepting that evolution is the best explanation for speciation requires a non-prejudicial examination of the evidence.
