Ok, by my unscientific survey, about 70% of COC who go Catholic is because of the Literal Real Presence.
Once you get them to admit that Jn 6 is fulfilled in the Last Supper, which they are obstinate about denying because of the consequences, they’re half way there. The rest depends on how well they can resist peer pressure…mostly they cannot.

Then the ECFathers reading reinforces it greatly.

“Unless you eat the flesh of the Son…and drink His Blood you have NOOOOOO life in you.”

“My Flesh is Meat indeed, My Blood is Drink indeed…” .
Indeed is a VOW, not just a fun word in the NT.

“This is my Body, This is My Blood…”

Stay with Jn 6 & the Last Supper discourse…beat it to death.
Then the ECF’s who all believed what we do about it with greater or lesser clarity…beat that to death too.
Why bo you believe in the Baptists on this and not the ECF’s?

Break that barrier and you can make progress…Yes.

No COC preacher will give a sermon on that part of Jn 6…it’s anathema to them for the most part, I mean “catholic”.

everything people have been posting is really good. I take it for the most part they take the bible very literal what it says is what is says. So I should really do good with the body of Christ right? I like the no Church buildings as well but isnt there instruments in Revelations I know of a trumpit but I thought also the harp both these instruments were very common back then.

This is true in some churches and not true in others. I have not personally known anyone who left the CoC and been disowned by their family. I even know one guy who became Mormon and his family still welcomed him. There are people in my church who were disowned from their families for leaving from other denominations to the CoC.

That being said, my church is considered apostate by some of the other CoC congregations. What is true in my life is probably not representative of the entire group at all.

The real presence argument should work very well. I know with me it did. The CoC takes everything in the New Testament literally except for Revelation. Keep that in mind and you will make a lot of progress.

Never underestimate the power of the historical argument though. The fact that the gates of hell shall not prevail says something. The CoC was not started until the early 1800s. There is absolutely no historical basis for saying otherwise.

As far as music in Revelation, they may say that Revelation was just a symbol. Most of the time Revelation 5 will shoot down any problem with musical instruments though and a CoC member will admit that they prefer acapella singing, but it is not mandatory.

At the end of the day, some CoC members simply do not want to use logic. I get the subject changed on me all of the time when I start saying things that contradict the CoC. Most don’t want to think about it.

One day I started reading about Catholicism on my own. At this point I am almost at the point of no return. If they look at things with an open mind you will convert them.

My wife belongs to one of the most regressive Church of Christ sects. Everything said hear is in line with their thought. However, their two major points of contention is the “One Cup” Issue, whereby any congregation that uses multiple cups is not in line with Christ, Sunday schools, women must not cut their hair, and they must also only wear skirts.

It might not be proof that it was or wasn’t grape juice. It seems consistent with the entire Bible that is was probably wine. I know some fundamentalists think alcohol is evil in itself and some do not. BMCD said in his church alcohol is considered evil so I was addressing that. I am just curious to how the church of Christ gets around the fact that Jesus drank wine. I’m not talking about intoxication. I agree with most of your post by the way.

Grape juice in a warm climate doesn’t stay grape juice very long! It starts fermenting immediately.
