Catholic…

Scientology…

Anti-Christ…

Hmmmmm…

for anybody who might be wondering re:scientology. what this is not is a ‘religlion.’ L. Ron Hubbard, a lesser known sc-fi author divised a theory of how the mind has a untapped series of ‘doors’ to greater mental skill. Mr. Hubbard (who died in 1974) had no degrees in any field of medicne but claimed to have wittnessed native shamans in southeast asia (where he served in ww II) having the ability to self-cure illness and the like. approx, 1968, having not made much of dent in the sc-fi world, Hubbard wrote “dyanentics-the science of the mind.” this was extended into scientology. now, to sidestep the taxes on the profits on this book, Mr. Hubbard, created the “Church of Scientology.” In the U.S, it has both First Amemdment and tax-exempt status.
Outside the U.S. this theory is treated either as a self-help subject, or in Germany, for example, Scientolgy is banned from that country and is classifed as a 'non-religious cult."
For all Christians, this is a serious problem. Well known U.S. Scientolgists in the entertainment industry present this as a harmless form of self-improvement. In fact, Scientolgists, dismiss Christianity, or traditional religions, as a ‘block to awareness’ and claim that by using their system of ‘unblocking’ you create your own universe, your own reality and that you are God. If the New Age Movement has a theology this is it. Last thought, self promotion and becoming famous and wealthy are part of this as well. If you doubt me you having been watching tv lately.

Great little cartoon! i actually learned something from it! those guys are WHACKOS! ooo! better hide! Xanu’s gonna get me for saying theyre whackos!

It’s a faith apart from Christ ( = cult )
So are you saying Judiasm, Islam, etc are all cults??

TarAshly:
Islam? Yes. Judaism? no.
Interesting, care to elaborate? Judaism believes that Christ is only a phrophet not GOD same as Islam so as per CHRISTFOLLOWER’s definitions is not every religion that does not follow Christ a cult or do people just pick and choose?

Also did not JPII say that Islam worshipped the same God as Christians or something like that? I dont recall him mentioning that they were a cult.

It was started by Sci Fi author L. Ron Hubbard - who is credited with making a comment once about not getting rich writing, and that the way to get rich was to start a religion - the viloa - he starts one 😉 There are other rumors that he actually made a bet that he could start a religion and get people to follow it… some google searches will give you references to these and other interesting tidbits.

I’ve read “Dianetics” nutty new age garbage…
My late father used to say the same thing - he would say, “Shoot, if you wanna get rich quick, throw a sheet around yourself, grow beard, and start shouting that you’re God”.

I understood there is also some sort of belief in space aliens being the highest order of beings and people getting their own planet…?

Isn’t there also charges that there is a “scientology” for wealthy, celebrity clients that is different from the one presented to the average, every day person?

I remember the book Dianetics - I was a freshman in High School at Carondelet when it came out. I had to do a book report on it for an advanced Humanities class. I remember it boiled down to a kind of “think positive, you are in charge” kind of philosophy (we are talking many, many years ago so forgive my lack of memory) that completely eschewed the idea of love and service for others in the Name of Jesus…kind of a precusor to all the self-centered, selfish, find-your-chi kind of self-help groups that flourish today (not that I have any opinion on that stuff:D ).

I never learned anything about scientology, though, other than observing that it seems to appeal to those with a tendency towards narcism. Not judgin’, just sayin’…

Hey, I want my own planet!!! That’s not fair!!!

😃 This from a woman with an arsenal of Holy Water lying in wait for Tom Cruise:rotfl:

Dude, I was on a Boy Scout trip and had one guy (scientologist) tell me that he was a warrior in his past life. Then I got stuck in the same tent as him. He was a nut.

I am sorry… that sounds rough… I mean we joke about having done something wrong in out “past life” if something doesn’t work out… but then again we are joking…

This is from Zooey’s website. It is a comic book presentation of the scientologist beliefs. Very weird to say the least.xenu.net/archive/scientology_illustrated/
And yet these seemingly intelligent people keep becoming scientologists…I think there has to be a lot of brainwashing going on. I mean, they don’t let you take your prescription meds, because it might impede your ability to avoid space aliens taking over your mind…
I have to tell you that I have read a little of Hubbard’s fiction, & the whole “religion” seems to be straight out of a “B” movie version of one of his books…

It’s a Church that took all of my sister’s money, her car, and her home, then told her she could not advance any further in her spirituality as she did not have the money.
What they said was she did not have the potential to advance to the next level. Unfortunately, as long as she had money, her potential was infinite.

A priest just told me Tom went to the Seminary? Hes a fallen away Catholic? I have never read that?

This is so sad. I am sorry that this happened.I realize that many people have been hurt by this cult.
I hope that you understand that when I make fun of it, I do so because that seems to be the one thing that they cannot stand, *not *because I lack sympathy for those whose lives have been devastated by scientology. On the contrary, I hope to make others think before they become involved in any way.
God bless.
