Hi, I recently found a group called Dignity that claims to be Catholic. However, I see some controversial stuff on their website. Have the Bishops spoken about this so called Catholic ministry?

Wikipedia:
Author Peter Kreeft, in his book “Catholic Christianity: A Complete Catechism of Catholic Beliefs Based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church”, examines the difference between Dignity and its Church-sanctioned counterpart, Courage International, stating that Dignity is like a child telling its parents what to do while Courage is a parent guiding its child to the proper decisions.
From Wikipedia

I doubt the Church has made a specific statement about this particular group, but a precursery look at their website shows that they are in direct conflict with Church teachings. If you know someone who struggles with homosexuality, I think you should recoomend them to Courage instead, which I believe works within the teachings of the Church to help people live with these struggles.

Dignity has members who are among that baptized and encourages its members to be active in parish life, so Dignity is made up of Catholics, yes. The problem is that the group itself objects to church teaching on homosexuality, and pretty much exists to try to get the teaching changed and to encourage Catholics to live and think as if it has or ought to. It is certainly not an arm of the Catholic Church, official or unofficial. It would be fair to call it a Catholic dissident group, and a support group for those who have decided the Church’s stance on homosexuality is unrealistic.

Just by reading what Dignity says and writes, then, there isn’t much for the bishops to say; the group does dance around the topic, but they really are not ambiguous about their attitudes towards current Church teaching. Many bishops do forbid Dignity access to church property and will not allow representatives from Dignity to speak at Catholic venues belonging to their diocese.

It’s only unrealistic if one tells oneself it’s unrealistic. Same with all forms of sexual morality…

“it is unrealistic to abstain from sex before marriage”
“it is unrealistic to remain monogamous within marriage”
“it is unrealistic to remained married to the same person until death do us part”
“it is unrealistic to not act on sexual attraction”

Saying something is “unrealistic” is giving up on trying to grow in holiness. It is putting oneself before God, and blaming God for “making me this way” i.e. “if God didn’t want me to do this, I wouldn’t have the desire to do it” so I guess it’s okay to do anything you want because God made you with the desires you have. Want to steal from your neighbor? Well, the desire wouldn’t be there if God didn’t want you to steal. Want to vandalize that Church? That’s cool, too. Anything goes…
