What is the Church’s official position on the Marian apparition at Medjugorje?

Some Traditionalist Catholics don’t approve of it.

But I have a devout Catholic friend who says that his pilgrimage to Medjugorje changed his lie and improved his relationship with God.

CDF letter to Bishop Gilbert Aubry:
…the Holy See does not ordinarily take a position of its own regarding supposed supernatural phenomena as a court of first instance. As for the credibility of the “apparitions” in question, this Dicastery respects what was decided by the bishops of the former Yugoslavia in the Declaration of Zadar, April 10, 1991: “On the basis of the investigations so far, it can not be affirmed that one is dealing with supernatural apparitions and revelations.”
…Finally, as regards pilgrimages to Medjugorje, which are conducted privately, this Congregation points out that they are permitted on condition that they are not regarded as an authentification of events still taking place and which still call for an examination by the Church.
In 2013 the Apostolic Nuncio to the US reiterated (PN 3980):
It follows, therefore, that clerics and the faithful are not permitted to participate in meetings, conferences or public celebrations during which the credibility of such “apparitions” would be taken for granted.
The Vatican in 2010 did put together a commission to investigate the matter and its report has been forwarded to the Pope. Until anything else happens all prior decrees remain in effect.
